Totally thought the text was from the espresso machine's perspective, and realized I didn't have "kitchen appliances rebel against humanity" on my 2024 bingo card.
Cheers to new appliances and new challenges. You've got this.
For steaming milk (easier said than done) try to make sure there isn’t a bubbling sound, but as Sbucks says, a ripping paper sound. It’ll take a min, but it is fun.
Pretty sure this is the machine my husband has, he has switched out that bean holder at the top for some kind of pump 🤷🏼♀️ and he measures his beans on a scale before pouring them in. So much trial and error but he has spoiled his taste for coffee shops now 😂 I don’t like coffee, but his ones are 💋👌🏻
I have the Express Impress—next model down from that, I think (pressure gauge instead of the touchscreen). Got it in July—quite a learning curve but I love it. Barista YouTube videos helped the most. And locally roasted coffee. My latte art is still kinda hit-&-miss, though. Working on it.
Stick with it. We have the same machine and I love the coffee that comes out (although shout out to Lindfield Coffee Works who’s espresso blend beans are fab)!
You'll manage. I don't see any sticky notes attached with arrows pointing at the button to press so it's not too bad. (Yes, at first I needed sticky notes, with arrows, showing the order to push the buttons 🫣)
Oohhh. I turned proper "Coffee Snob" (to quote Mrs D) a few years back when I got a cheap espresso machine but I've never mastered the steam wand. Any tips?
Not an expert, but happy to share the little I know.
1. Keep the jug in the fridge. 2. The rest, like so much in life, is about depth and angle. Practise the depth needed to stretch the milk first, then work on the wand angle to swirl the milk. Finish deeper to heat the milk.
Oh Jesus!!!!!
What…
Christ! I can barley make the thing go… let alone take specific orders.
Might be able to manage a coffee…. But can’t promise what variety it will end up, as.
Just so everyone understands this machine does NOT make coffee. It makes espresso. You can make an americano with an espresso extraction and extra hot water for a good cup of coffee. I've had mine for about 4 years and still have to baby it. Miss my Jura.
At first it looks like a little robot then I realized it's a high-tech coffee maker of some sort I tell you nothing beats the flavor of percolated coffee instead of drip
What's up? Remember, keep it around 25 seconds. Adjust the grind to make sure that happens. I'm really jealous of your journey. If you really get into it, let me know. I can send you links to Brazilian coffee sites.
OI. We got an upgraded setup about 3 weeks ago, and have had maaaaybe 6 decent lattes since. I’m on egg shells around it. I coo at it. Polish it. I’m its hostage.
Don't run the grinder to the finest setting, take it back a couple notches. Then like 7.2 second grind time for a double. I also prefer a weighted tamper for more consistent control over a force/press tamper.
For the milk, start with half as much as you're planning to fill your serving cup with.
Oh shit. I had the same reaction with ours. It was a daily battle and took huge willpower not to just toss it into the pool. It’ll get better, and the coffee too.
My sister got the Breville and watched the “ how to” video every day for about a month before she felt comfortable with it. She now makes fabulous coffee!
If you care to, try mixing 2 parts Deathwish Dark roast and 1 part New Mexico Pinion Traditional beans for a very delicious cup. Been doing this for many years and have yet to find better. I use a Jura automatic and it's been bulletproof for over 10 years if you ever upgrade. Push the button, done
Also, so you know I have a different model from the same company and I have had two issues in 5 years and the service from them was outstanding, make sure to register it.
OMG.....LOL, I am on my second day with an expresso machine. I have blown water all over the counter, steam-cleaned my counter, but I have managed a few delightful cups this morning.

Cheers to new appliances and new challenges. You've got this.
I enjoy lighter roasts and therefore a dripper to get all the flavours.
But maybe I'm just avoiding the battle of dialing in an espresso machine 😄
Hope the coffee was enjoyable! ☕
Bon chance.

You’re so right! Depth AND angle. Well, angle, more critically.
Nope.

Mental, innit.
That looks too much.
Mine has one button.
And I still forget the mug under the outlet at times! 😆
Unfortunately I'm no exception. Seeing this post has inspired me to use my coffee machine right now.
Then you change beans...and have to do it again
But I made a mess.
🤭
Unfortunately it ain’t the time of the day to fool around with it yet as I’m sick 🤒 *sighz*
Hope you’ll have fun with yours

The UK Breville is a totally different company and produce similar, but definitely not the same, machines.
Little Lord Fontleroy, took the old one, to uni. 🙄😂
Good excuse to get a fancy new one then.🎉
Little bit fragile especially in hard water area so get an extended warranty - John Lewis for example. Repairs can also take a while.
Ours makes 4-6 cups a day across the family TBF.
