It was multistage—bisque fire, wax, underglaze, then wash residual underglaze off the wax, then dip in clear glaze—but I’m so happy with how it came out!
I did something similar but with scrafito; underglaze on green ware, then carved away the glaze; bisqued; clear glazed; then fired again. Pottery is such an act of patience and attention!
Thank you all for your nice words! I haven’t replied yet because I am trying to stay the F off social media for tonight, highly recommend the same if it’s at all possible for you. Remember people are literally still in line to vote in a lot of swing states, and counting is SLOW. Breathe. Hope.
Cute! I tried carving some bowls, glazing the carvings, and putting wax over the glaze before dipping another glaze. It was not successful. Wax along seems like a better move!
(Related: I was in the pottery studio tonight as late as it was open to at least delay my anxiety.)
Very pretty! I enjoyed taking a pottery class in college but all my glazes made everything look like “cow turds”, as my husband rightfully described them

They're all great, just that one specifically caught my eye!
Beautiful
Are the black dots underglaze?
