You donβt really appreciate the yellow paint guiding you where to go or the shiny objects indicating an item until you play a game from 1998 where it tells you absolutely nothing and you have to figure out wtf you can interact with in any given room π

For me at least, figuring things out is part of the fun.
But I also can't blame people that want to be able to turn it off. It's helpful, but not when it comes to immersion.

I had consoles growing up but with like 2 games a piece. I actually found my NES in a bin on the side of the road and bought mega man for 25 cents at a yard sale π€£
I like how older Resident Evil games added a sparkle to items or intractables being 3D objects easily recognizable on the 2D pre-rendered backgrounds.
I've been playing Grandia and it's low key HELL.
