Roy (R-TX): But to take this bill and congratulate yourself because it's shorter in pages, but increases the debt by $5 trillion, is asinine. And that's precisely what Republicans are doing.

Roy (R-TX) is using logic on his cohorts who have abandoned logic long ago.
Of course Trump wants to eliminate a debt ceiling - then the press can't report he's broken is AGAIN.
MAGA's "swamp" is overflowing w incompetent, unaccountable, power-hungry, unserious egos, and Roy helped create it.
"Paid for" is a Conservative trope used in an effort to turn the United States into a third world (sh!t hole) country that is dependent upon the "Charities" of private industry.
With appropriate tax enforcement there would more than enough federal "income" to be a well funded first world country.
It is truly a shame that neither President Trump, Co-President DJT, or GOP members of Congress can read anything beyond an Executive Summary. Maybe they need the Cliff Notes version.
Because he's either an idiot who doesn't know who actually runs his Party, or he's being obtuse, and this is just Kabuki to throw Dems off their already shitty game.
It is hilarious that old chip acts like he isn't in the room when they discuss these bills. He is SHOCKED that they raise the debt, or maybe the people who believe he is SHOCKED have actually been bamboozled. NONE OF THE REPUBLICANS ARE WORTH THE SKIN THAT THEY ARE WRAPPED IN!!!
Poor Chip Roy. He thinks that the Republican goal is to make things better for AMERICANS.
Silly goose! We're talking about the rights of billionaires, friend.
GOP keeps trying to sell itself as the Party of "fiscal responsibility," but continues to FAIL miserably. They're not the Party of "moral authority," "family values," "law and order," "limited government," or "compassionate conservatism" either.
Anything said about the debt other than, "Tax billionaires and big corporations more fairly and cut the defense budget" is just posturing, and everybody knows that the Republicans will do neither. Watching them yap at each other is the proverbial cold comfort, but that is better than no comfort.
The schadenfreude being served up today tastes like a piece of dense chocolate cake with raspberry drizzle paired with a nice Italian roast espresso. Chef’s kiss.
I am not a fan of Roy but
(1) in 2020 he did vote to certify Biden's election
(2) while he opposes Biden's policies on practically every issue, he cannot be accused of hypocrisy on the debt limit. Whether the debt limit is right or wrong in theory, Roy is honest about this issue. Bravo!
Roy will complain, just as he’s done before, and then snap that head right back into the void without hesitation. He tries to play both sides, but he’s still a full on MAGAPAB.
Don't honey, he is a member of the freedom carcasses and he only makes sense about twice per two year term. Freedom carcasses need to be put out to pasture 👇
Chip is, in the parlance of Texas, all hat and no cattle. He exists to appear on Fox News and throw red meat to the base. He's an anti-vax culture warrior who complains about woke schools in cities while giving meet-and-greets in rural communities.
Chip scorched them before the elections about doing nothing he could go back to his people and say they’d accomplished. Now this? Whoa. No wonder Trump is calling for him to be primaried in 2026. However, Trump underestimates Texans. Yay. That’ll be one fight to keep an eye on.
Maybe he may find people later among people who aren't serial rapists and human traffickers also into Bitcoin or people whose Churches let kids get abused. The GOP is dead to anyone else.
Chip, seriously who calls themselves "chip". Weird. I want to know more about his casual "indiscretions". Sexual assault is considered an indiscretion? Psychos.
I am just going to say with empathy to Republican Congressman Chip Roy of Texas, is that, you have been snookered. The Republican Party has never been about fiscal responsibility. But thank you for shouting that the king has no clothes on the house floor today.
Likely that's from the bipartisan GAO which has an excellent rate of prediction which is why GOP hates them. (General Accounting Office)
+The GAO warned the public the 2018 GOP Tax Scam would cost several Trillion help just those earning over 400k, +cause inflation and unstable Social Security.
Well for starters, there's no Republican party anymore, only maga, so maybe that should factor into his reasoning and it would make a lot more sense to him

They ARE the Party of "make the rich richer"
Resist!
He might want to take a look at what Donald spent in his first term.
