Welcome to the Blueskies Jorts! It makes me happy that you've shared the tale of the magic flying carpet. I thought others might like to see you enjoying a magical carpet ride with some winged friends. With little a salami. As a treat. Love you, Jorts!
Glad you came out unscathed from any work-related injuries. Was the well-meaning passerby relieved from their concern for you or was a scratch the compensation afforded to them?
Oh no! Years ago, Whiskers leapt after a bird from the second floor balcony and somehow the tree broke his fall and he was completely uninjured. Definitely used one of his nine lives!
How far of a fall? He looks like he did well! We lived on the 4th floor many years ago & had a mama cat go over the rail & later one of her kittens went over. Both survived with minimal injuries (slider unintentionally left 2 inches open & they shimmied right through 🫣 terrifying!)
I’ve linked to the OSHA forms below (paw friendly PDFs) and Jackson sends his deepest sympathies. He is currently filing an official complaint that his brother has illegally occupied the radiator side of the cat bed in the kitchen.
Not to lead the claimant in any way of course but has this occupation of the radiator side resulted in a hazardous or negligent work environment? If so, can we implement some engineering controls/changes to avoid this scenario? Perhaps a longboi bed which allows side by side radiator access?
I was just getting some fresh air and I noticed a bug. I crammed my large and heavy orange body under the slightly open window and climbed the window screen.
As I was plummeting, I clung to the screen like a magic carpet, and landed in the bushes. A passerby observed the whole incident and began trying to assist.
I am an inside cat, but I found myself being chased by a stranger all over the outside. A lot of stuff was going on
how many stories down did you ride the magic screen carpet?!? Do you recommend the experience to thrill-seeking felines?
I'm *so glad* you're OK, and I hope the well-meaning stranger didn't bleed too much either.
The sound of the well intended passerby and also my howling attracted the attention of my coworkers. One of them walked outside and picked me up (pictured above) and brought me inside where I hid under a chair to regain my composure
Because I am extremely charismatic, a veterinarian agreed to come visit and count my toes or whatever. I’m 100% fine despite my magic carpet ride. No lost time, no workers compensation required
If I HAD been hurt while working at my job of being a cat, that would have been a compensable injury.
But I suspect that cramming my body into a remarkably small opening and dislodging a screen is probably not a violation of the general duty clause bc it was so ridiculous of me. That said,
Jorts, firstly how wonderful to see you here. Hoping it's the first of many more posts.
Secondly, what a relief it is to hear you're OK. I suspect that while your coworkers may have learned a lesson, you haven't. Stay safe, and remember H&S rules are there for a reason 🧡
Oh, open windows. The hardest part about putting the window AC units in every year was keeping our orange cat Mulder from going through the open windows. He never got the orange cat brain cell in his 18 years with us. I miss him, but I do not miss having to save him from himself each spring.
Was this a recent incident Jorts, or did this happen a couple years ago?
If this is a repeat accident, I think your workplace really needs to do a safety audit.
Just glad you’re safe.

An investigation will confirm facts but I suspect a Jorts involved scratching occurred
