people seem to think this is hypocritical but i think it’s only hypocritical if you believe this guy didn’t actively vote to hurt other communities, which i do not

White resentment has been the core of every Republican campaign for years. Trump puts it at the center of his politics. He beat all the other Republicans because he is unapologetic about his racism.
It is only hypocritical if you define hypocritical as possessing one set of standards for yourself and a different set for others. But if you, like me, define it as a species of tiger, it makes no sense at all to call it hypocritical. It’s a complete non-sequitur, in fact, which is a kind of fish.
And I do. We've watched these people get away with stuff, and do more stuff and become more open. And all along, there have denialists defending it, right up until *they* feel threatened.
In every article I've read about why threatened minorities shifted toward Trump, there's always a moment where the "price of eggs" mask slips and someone admits they wanted him to hurt someone else—those other women, those other immigrants, trans people, etc. He baited and hooked them with bigotry.
Except - how did anyone who listened to the incoming leader of his sycophants and not understand the incoming regime’s intent to hurt communities which the followers/superiors consider “other.” I don’t find this plausible.
"look you must be mistaken, I am clearly a member of the in-group, there's no way you could be treating me like one of the out-groups which I don't like either"
