This is a bit out of date and is a basic demonstration of the game. I’ve spent most of the time since writing a user manual, adding content to the game, fixing bugs, adding a splash with music, etc.

As for nicheness, I have yet to find any sizeable player base, but as you've already mentioned: I'm probably just failing at marketing 😜
I make a lot of experimental games trying to explore what we can do with this medium, and am currently working on a game that is pretty hard to define a genra for, a narrative game with a pretty unique platforming~ish gameplay.
But to be honest an ASCII-art classic dungeon crawler is something I would love to make...

We're making a game based on the kind of early 90s ADV games that came out almost exclusively on the Japan only NEC 'PC' series of home computers whilst being inspired by 70s American sci fi and 80s Mecha anime.

I let you decide if it's niche to you or not but I can tell you our game is quite hybrid, mixing story-driven, observation and strategy. Also the game's story is very mature, dealing with social and politic issues.
