Beer originated as a way of making grain palatable. Grain can be stored over the long term, unlike most foods. Once you can make grain edible, you can have settlements, cities, trade, culture and civilization. Beer is the foundation of all of that.
I'm grateful that I can't even stand the smell of beer.
All the detriments of Alcohol plus all the detriments of a High Carb diet? Give me more of that!
Well I believe it used to be one of the only safe things to drink. Water had to be boiled. I think wine was a bit geographic. Beer and mead were more available.
I could never understand the appeal. A cider has as much alcohol but tastes hundred times better (with some ice). And yeah Inknow its unpopular opinion.
A long time ago, someone accidentally poured water in their cereal bowl. Instead of dumping it out, they forgot about it and just went to get another bowl.
same reason "why is wine": in ancient times into the C19 it was healthier to drink fermented or distilled liquids than drink water, since the science behind clean drinking water didn't start until C19
