I don't know about Kenny man. One day he has the black nationalist flag, and another day he's draped up with that imperialism flag behind him. Very peculiar to me.
Nationalism's always gonna involve varying levels of imperialism. Besides, Kendrick merely raps about unity and pride in Black culture and history and the impact of gang violence, poverty, and systemic neglect on Black youth, and commodification of Black Culture and "leeches" who profit off it.
He's no black nationalist, apart from sharing common beliefs such as pride in Black culture and self sufficiency. And frankly, it's the logical, rational thing to do.
Dude is transcendent talent. We get a few of these in a lifetime we need to protect him and get him to release as much as possible while he's in his prime.
Have all the biggest artists become so lazy that βfuckβ is every second word in their songs? Are they not capable of using any other words because they only have 10 words in their vocabulary and two of them are βfuckβ and βbitchesβ?
Yes, then you made the assumption that I hadnβt read the lyrics. Do you know what an βexaggerationβ is? So maybe itβs not EVERY second word, but itβs certainly the most used word these days, so Iβll stand by my original observation. Artists have become lazy!
Figured a merzbow enjoyer would also have good taste elsewhere. Limited resources still resulted in superior creative expressions, the proof is in the way the production sounds, the sampling and fusion of rock and hip hop
Wow, sampling stuff from my youth just won't die! "When I hear music it makes me dance!". Like Chicago radio on a Friday night in the 90s. Spin that record.
No! Debbie Deb came out with that song in 1994. I know cause I still have that original lp when it came out. I was highly into high energy/electronica in my youth out here in California π€£
I'm seeing 1983. Electronic got hot in the 90s. In Chicago, they were playing ALL the electronic that existed b at the time. Now you couldn't do that, endless amount of EDM.
I don't know, the background track could be better. I'm tired of the simple 808 trap beats. They sound like any beat you could download online for free. He's a problem, but Kanye could have made an incredible beat for this. I like the African themed American flags though.
They bringing it back! About time! Did you hear Ice Cube album yet? Kendrick dropped the same day Cube was and got overshadowed. I know he maaaad! He wanted to bring that west coast vibe back. Thought he had it then Kendrick said Forget all yaβll ππ
The definition of building in private. Kendrick popped out with the full marketing & promo. Even Tyler built a couple days expectation. #builtdifferent
LA is filled with so many weird transplants who move out here with certain expectations and foster this cold, shark-like, hedonistic vibe. But if youβre FROM here (and I mean from the REAL LA, like Long Beach, Inglewood, hell even South Bay), you know that THIS is the true energy we move with π₯
