That should of have been an automatic ban the moment he assaulted Mookie..I know this "former" season ticket holder is questioning his life choices right about now.
That would be SO tough.
I sat right at the wall in Dodger stadium once.I had to remind myself all through the game that if it comes to me, do NOT try to catch it (as I usually would).
No balls came within 20 feet of me, so I never got the chance.
Calling it an assault is more than a bit of a stretch, this was interference which is not a criminal offence but is definitely worthy of a life ban especially considering they seemed to be proud of what they did.
If I remember, this was at Yankee Stadium, so NY laws would apply; Assault (3rd degree) would be out unless injuries could be proven; Attempted Assault, however, could be valid. The MLB statement to the fans: “Your conduct posed a serious risk to the health and safety of the player" adds to this.
I agree with this.
That is screwing with an institution just like Presidents who foment and share in planning an insurrection against the Unite States are banned from ever running for President again in accordance with Article 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution . . . wait . . . WHAT ?
If we only had that kind of Fairplay outside of sports, but this picture has Elon and Thiel stealing democracy from the gloves of those who have made outstanding jumps to make it possible and just for all.
That's why it pays to sign up for WhiteLock by Nordon.. For only $13.99 per month you can rest assured that your white privilege is protected everywhere, all the time. Call one of our English speaking associates to sign up today. Offer not available in California.
Not by the devout fans, they know. They're well known, and the jumbotron I'm glad we don't have in Australia, except for Grand Finals, will show their faces too. The fans are the best network too. There's a reason fan is short for fanatic.
Yeah I read that somewhere, but I'm in Australia and wasn't totally sure. They'll never be allowed to buy season tickets again. If it's anything like it is in Australia, if someone buys the tickets for them they risk a ban too.
I get it but… they can travel.
And no one will know who they are. They may not be able to buy tickets using their own credit cards but…. Anyone else Can get tickets For them. America is a big country with lots of mlb teams.
Enforcing this will be difficult
Hard to enforce, but it will cost those bogans ALL of their money to travel to see a game. You assume they have that kind of money. There's a reason the ban didn't happen day one. MLB has already talked to their lawyers. I'm Aussie and even I know that is close. Not actual fact, but close.
How do they ban people. Really. Wouldn’t that only work if the banned person tried to buy a ticket? If someone else buys them a ticket, how would anyone know to stop the person from entering?
You’d be shocked how hard it is to blend in at stadiums. I have cut someone off in a restaurant in the outfield, and run in the same person in different clothes and adjusted hair on the opposite side of the stadium on a different level.
Love his loyalty to his team but yes agree with the ban. Hey dude lots of make up artists can make you a disguise in NYC. Congrats to Mookie on his long career.
Steve Bartman did nothing wrong. The Marlins scored 8 runs in that inning. Cubs cant complain about losing to a team that had Ivan Rodriguez, Miguel Cabrera, Josh Beckett, and the legendary Jack Mckeon managing the boys.
I can't figure out how he thought he'd get away with this. EVERY camera in the stadium was following the ball, it is not like he was in some single A park with 2 umps and no cameras.
Felons should be barred from participating in any elected office elections. If they are unable to vote, they have no right to participate in elections that require others to vote for them.
That is 100% on voters. There isn't a higher authority out there to tell people what criteria they can use to cast their vote. At some point in government of, by and for the people. The people have to take responsibility for selecting representatives to offices of public trust.
Consider this, for maybe a second he thought “Are they going to break my hand? Do they want to hurt me? Will I still be able to play?” Just those few seconds of fear for his livelihood are rattling. That’s what it’s like to be a woman almost every time a man is annoyed with us. They deserve the ban.
I’m saying if you are angry about spectators grabbing a player by the glove and not a president grabbing a woman by the pussy, the means by which you learn consent are seriously fucked up. That men are mad about men touching a man, a Black man nonetheless, and not mad about SA is very on-brand.
I don’t get “angry” for entertainment. But I know it’s WRONG to purposely encroach on someone’s body without permission - baseball player or woman in a dressing room.
It’s unfortunate that you-know-who was twice elected president with this on his record. It’s WRONG and I don’t support him.
Sub “they” for “you.” I didn’t mean to imply you specifically. ANYONE who is mad about those men touching a player and not mad when it happens to women is part of the problem.
Teach* them. Two white men felt entitled to touch a Black man. Many men feel entitled to touch women w/o consent. It’s a violation of boundaries due to a gross lack of respect. Those men don’t see us as people. Grabbing a glove got them banned. Grabbing a pussy got him elected. Make it make sense.
It was the right decision; that act was despicable.
They will have to watch their beloved team from home on tv from now on; I'm assuming Yankee Stadium will enforce the rule too.
Comments
“Hey, Dad, let’s go watch a ballgame together!”
“Sorry, son, but I tried to interfere and wrestle a ball away from a player on live television and for some reason they didn’t like it.”
“I hate that you’re my Dad’l
@mlb Baseball sucks now.
Asshole players with no baseball acumen.
That was horrible
I sat right at the wall in Dodger stadium once.I had to remind myself all through the game that if it comes to me, do NOT try to catch it (as I usually would).
No balls came within 20 feet of me, so I never got the chance.
That said, in both jurisdictions, I am not 100% if Betts would have to press the charges himself or other entities could do so "on his behalf".

We need more justice like this. If you act like a five year old at a game, then it's time for a major time out.
Bye Bye
Earned a follow.
Yankees AH is famous, they’ll know.
prob stupid enough to jump on f1 track for souvenir
Because ankles are 3 feet lower than a Cunt.
I’m genuinely sorry he was touched and those men felt entitled to his body. I know what’s that’s like. It’s never OK.
It’s unfortunate that you-know-who was twice elected president with this on his record. It’s WRONG and I don’t support him.
Too tough for you?
They will have to watch their beloved team from home on tv from now on; I'm assuming Yankee Stadium will enforce the rule too.
