Details matter folks. They took the Real ID requirement a step further. It not only needs the gold star but also must specify that you are a U.S. citizen. As of now, only Michigan, Minnesota, New York, Vermont, and Washington do that and only about half of licensed drivers even have a gold star.

In Missouri we had to get a new drivers license after we presented several forms. I know 1 was a birth certificate, another was a passport.I don’t remember what else. Once we did all that then we were issued a new drivers license that then became our real id”. With some kind of special marking

Yes, It meets federal guidelines. A state issued ID card meets the standard also. You’ll have to gather docs such as birth certificate & go to a state designated location, usually the DMV.

The Real I.D. law was passed in 2005. Most states have mandated the change for driver licenses & state IDs. Maryland made this mandatory in 2020. i had to take birth certificate & marriage
license to MVA.

The REAL ID Act was passed and signed in 2005. The deadline had to be extended a couple of times. States had until 2021 to comply. Enforcement of some provisions began in 2014/15. BC of COVID deadline for people to comply extended to 5/2025 to board planes, but they'll be flexible til 2027.

Look on the front side of your driver’s for a small star. On Colorado drivers’ licenses, it’s in the upper right corner. If it has the star, I’ve heard it’s a “real ID.” For now. (I renewed mine late last year and didn’t have to make any special request for a “real ID”—my new license had the star.)

A real ID license has a gold star ⭐️ on the upper right hand corner. In order to obtain one, you have to provide most or all the same documents that you would need for a passport like a birth certificate, marriage license and also mail to prove your current residence.
