Robins are such attentive parents! We watched a nest go from eggs to babies to fully fledged juveniles outside our kitchen window. They built it on our neighbor's downspout.
I put out bowls of apple cider vinegar, sugar, and dishsoap, but they were more interested in the cat's water fountain. I was thinking of trying a peroxide drain, but I'm very new to gardening and am not too sure if it will deplete the soil's nutrition too much. I need a grown up.
I considered carnivores as precaution, but some members of my family objected to having them in the house. Those objection passed after they found gnats in their coffee and the cat's water dishes.
I got a few varieties from a shop we have in town called Paxton Gate - I'll have to look up the names again, but they are bog plants and so that water draws some of those gnats even closer to the plant.
Paxton Gate is an ethically sourced taxidermy shop and they have cool carnivorous plants
Exciting! But be very careful exiting your studio. Mama robins are very protective! I had 1 dive bombing me for hours after attempting to trim my bushes when I had no idea a nest was in them! I would go inside the house & come out much later & she would still dive bomb me!
My son had to finish trimming the bushes as she wouldn't let me come out of the house without trying to nail me every time! It's funny now but it surely wasn't then! 😂
Aw. Proud parents! I would be at that window all day being a nuisance! I have a bunch of baby quail running around my yard, and I'm so happy about it.

You’ll notice how quickly they vacate, without a month’s notice for rental units, they chose to make a nest on top of a ladder 🪜 on my deck, so cute, but so fast, they seem to mature overnight & fly off, seeing those little wide open beaks is so precious
I was a bit confused, thinking they looked like European blackbirds, until I twigged that we're on different sides of the Atlantic. Euro blackbirds (Turdus merula) are related to your robins (Turdus migratorius).
We had a mockingbird nest our Will Scarlet rose. The first baby fledged a few weeks ago. I think there's another clutch because a mockingbird dive-bombed my cat yesterday. His crime was appearing on the front porch 25 feet from the rose bush.
My Robin's on her second nesting. Her first fledged early last week, here in S.C. PA(and that's just the one on the back porch above the camera/feeder....
I had the same thing about 45 days ago. 3 of 4 eggs hatched. They survived until something raided the nest as the young were close to fledging. I hope two survived.
I've had doves and little finches make use of a hanging planter on my porch, very enjoyable to watch the little families grow. I always feel sad when they leave 😕
We had a robins nest this year too. Last year chickadee, before that a downy woodpecker. The robins were the fastest from nest building to their young flying off! Love you got the video!
Lovely photo! Love watching their nestings and feedings. I have several bird houses where Chickadees nest. They begin in March and do not end nesting until fall.
A few years back, I took my car in for inspection and they left this note. Took the car home, cracked the hood. Mom came back and we left it parked until they hatched, and raised to be old enough to fly away
We felt good about it. We were delighted when we first heard the chicks since we didn't know if the eggs had survived. We were rooting for the, though.
I have a nest in the rafters of my woodshed. I can see when mama comes & goes, but it's too high to see if we have babies yet. I think they've been in the nest about two weeks. Fingers crossed...if they hatch it'll be our first robin family in three years! Thank you for sharing this. It made my day.
that's so wonderful! and unusual. must be a very serene area. we have at least one nest every year but in a tree or a bush and often miss the action. though one year in our garage was wonderful to watch

The finch hatchlings are just about ready to leave the nest.
It's really fun to observe these birds. You'll miss them when they're gone!

Hate to have to say that…in the woods over here

The truth is that baby birds are incredibly ugly.
