I understand an AI got around the Captcha system. It messaged the administrator and claimed to be visually and hearing impaired.
They let the AI continue.
Not sure what's funnier. That an AI couldn't think of a better way to get around the Captcha, like looking at and parsing the info on screen, or that an Admin was actually responsive to the request.
How long did the AI have to wait for the approval to continue? Hours? Days? Weeks?
My gosh. Didn’t everyone have one of these guys growing up? So soothing to watch. I even bought ones for my kids when they were young. Are they still around?
Excellent idea! Why didn't I think of that! Betcha they might be better than the texts my kitties occasionally send. Although the one or 2 selfies of them have been hilarious.
Reminds me of that scene in the book On the Beach, when the submarine sought out that odd signal.
That book scared the shit out of me because that sub went up the Thames River in Groton CT, 15 miles from where I lived. I was just a teenager, so that book made a huge impression on my view of life.
You’ve got that right. As a kid who grew up in the “duck and cover” days, it was like a capstone on the thought in my young mind that stupid men might just end all life on earth. My existential angst started way younger than anyone should have to endure. And now we’re living it bigly!
We practiced that drill for years. We had the sirens growing up on military bases. The world is flipped upsidedown and half the people are happy about it.
And the D and C drills were such propaganda! Like they were even going to help in the event of a nuclear attack. Still trying to figure out whether they were meant to make the kids feel better, or those with the power to wipe us all out.
We never had the sirens. Just the fire alarm. Intensity!
The book was written by Neville Shute, if anyone is interested. It was ironic to me that the sub went up that particular river because that’s where the nuclear subs are built. The movie was okay but they sent the sub to San Diego instead.
The book engrained in me that stupidity might end humanity.
I'm on a 50 and over ultimate team, we do a stretch where you bend at the waist and swing one leg up behind you. We call it the drinking bird and the kids have no idea what we're talking about

I guess I was wrong. The AI only said it was visually impaired. It made no claims about hearing as I mistakenly remembered.
It seems to have happened over a few minutes.

First 8ish seasons of that cartoon was some of the best comedy writing on TV to this day.
