dot com bubble burst, y2k, 9/11, afghan and iraq wars, 2008 subprime loan crash / "great recession", COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent recession, russia invading ukraine and nearly triggering WW3 and now the US goes full nazi and starts a trade war with the world.
For everyone! This is "grind the whole world system to a halt, embroiling the entire globalized system of commerce in a pointless trade war centered around the very legitimacy of the reserve currency" rather than just "we should shoot our own country in the head, for the bit"
Serious answer: first equal. However, in so far as Trump's poisoned the entire world as well as his own country, perhaps marginally worse. Economic suicide is the one thing regimes appear to be rather good at.
lwe’ve been begging for you to love us for a very long time now whilst telling our neighbours to piss off for the best part of a decade. we’re now crying outside the window as they all do bonding exercises
That's a tough call, honestly. They're probably neck and neck, except (economically) the US had a little further to fall and Brexit is a little harder to take back later.
And we're approaching 10 years since Brexit, and counting......and we still can't even have a conversation about it; but for the US, there's always another election (🤞🤞🤞)
I guess the US can change government in 4 years and try to revert the economic damage
The UK won't be able to rejoin the EU for a least a decade, that's if there is a political will, our economic damage will continue to get worse. The current Labour government are ignoring it.
imagine if brexit were just like, a really bad winter season that shut everything down for a week, then scale that against a hydrogen bomb aimed directly at the economy
Brexit mostly angered EU members. The Trump administration just went after everyone. Also leaving the EU doesn’t necessarily trigger an economic policy reaction, tariffs do.
As an Irish person, who has watched both sides of the Atlantic with much interest over the last decade, I'd rate this as above a Truss budget, and above a first Trump term, but below a Johnson Brexit. And below May Brexit too, tbf
T.R.U.M.P. hmm T.R.U.S.S. Yes there's a pattern here. Both nations must immediately
implement legislation that prohibits access to high office to anyone with a surname beginning with T.R.U. Problem Solved.

Luckily I got the new economic suicide meter that goes up to 11 just in time for Trump taking office.
Insane is the word.
Reversible by removing tariffs
Brexit included tearing up the rule books and a high level of self flagulation
Unfortunately in the U.K. we seem to have both main parties wedded to Brexit
But those who suffer 1st & most are vulnerable people like me. I may become unhoused in a few months.
I keep saying, all MAGAs are accelerationists, but don’t know it.
Except Russia, North Korea and Belarus.
