The director, writer and principal actor was a man in his 60s with the confidence of a rampaging rhino. He started the play giving a short speech about why a lot of actresses turned down the 2nd role (It was a 2 person) because his song compositions were too complex. He was wearing a beret. (2)

He then announced the start of the show after lowering his mic to just under his nose, so every one of his breaths and mouth noises, of which there were many were audible throughout the entire theatre. This was obviously unintentional (3)

He then started a low level fight with the sound guy who was trying to adjust the sound to compensate for the in wash of sounds that made it seem like an amorous, heavy breathing bear was hiding somewhere in the auditorium. (4)

The lead actress then came on stage and he told us not to notice that she was there while she hid under a sheet. She then revealed herself, stood up and proceeded to deliver her lines with her back to the stage. All sound overshadowed by heavy breathing (5)

There were numerous songs. The lead actress was an excellent singer. But whenever she sung, he would stand half in the wings and click his fingers to the music. She started to turn and glare off stage every now and then. (6)

The breathing continued. The war with the sound guy went on with him demanding the volume be raised louder before a scene where he was meant to be in a coma. He was making a lot of mouth noises. So while the lead actress was saying "Oh he's in a coma" there was the sound of mouth schlup schlup (7)

Oh... hey... I've done that play -- the one where the writer/director/actor can "do no wrong" and yet, somehow, manages to do everything wrong from sound choice to blocking to affecting an accent that sounds comically bad...

Went to see a play once where the entire company's props and costumes had been held up at customs so they had to mime it all.

It was Bearbarella (a drag retelling of Barbarella) so it was already wild to begin with.

Have not seen it but recall a review of a play where the lead is a teacher upset that she’s likely to be fired over her most recent production by her 3rd graders of The Iceman Cometh (or something else madly inappropriate).
