Ok. I feel so much better about it now. The first preview I saw had me concerned about whether MB’s personality (in my head) was gonna map into the way it’s portrayed in the series…
I really hope it plays out like in the books where Ratthi is proving to the others that Murderbot really has been spending its time the way it claims to have been spending its time. cause that is such a sweet and great Ratthi moment.
I was like "oh, what is the best moment, I will have to watch and see if I can guess" and then I got there and knew unequivocally which one you meant. (Could be wrong! But was amused.)
Thanks, I does look like they are writing a lot more dialog to replace the head voice of the novellas. I was worried that it would be way too much voice-over. I’m optimistic for the pessimistic Murderbot.
I got the impression from some article or other that she’s a bondslave who crushes on Murderbot? Which…clearly Preservation DON’T DO THAT, so perhaps The Company requires they take her along? Idk - it made me worry a bit, but I’m willing to wait and see.
she's definitely not part of the Preservation team, because she's not in any of the team establishing shots. and she looks all bedraggled and weird compared to them. I suspect she's with the second group of humans, some kind of way?
She also has a different sigil on her suit in this clip than the Preservation Aux team (and Murderbot), and her suit has yellow piping instead of orange. I think she's from DeltFall.
I can definitely see the appeal of including another outsider perspective in the narrative to help with explaining stuff about how both Preservation and the rest of the universe work, sans constant Murderbot narration, and finding a survivor gives added drama to that sequence.
I feel kind of ick about the idea that she’s going to try to seduce Murderbot, because that sounds cringe & I’m not loving the idea of playing sexual harassment for laughs, but I’m willing to wait & see if they manage to navigate this successfully, since the show generally looks well judged.
Someone on Youtube just suggested to have Kevin R Free voice ART in any future episodes. Would that not be amazing? The snooty voice (perfection) he uses when he voices ART?
Wahoooo! One of the few things that gets better and better and better. Laughed out loud quite a few times during the new scenes. I am now sure they did the books justice. Yes, they have to change some things, it IS a different medium, after all. But wow, 10 points, Alex!
This video is definitely making the show more attractive to me. Less emphasis on the humor and more on SecUnit's social anxiety. That said, I oved the reference to the Santuary Moon character being framed. Also, Skarsgard consistently genders SecUnit correctly.
it has been such a relief to me that everyone involved in this story genders Murderbot correctly, basically every single time. that was a big thing I was worried about!

What is “weird” about (1) recognising that the blonde lady isn’t a character in “All Systems Red” & wondering who she is, or
It would be WILDLY out of character for the staunchly anti-slavery Preservation team to casually have a slave on board;
That addresses THAT aspect.
I still don’t love the idea of adding in a blonde slave to try to get in Murderbot’s pants, because that sounds both creepy and humiliating,
I also love *lists whole book*
Like all the time
Dramatised versions a step too far, however
so excited
