I've been wanting someone to give that incredible mess an Atop The Fourth Wall style retrospective review for years. It was so much, some of which I'm nostalgic for, if for nothing else but remembering the keenspot forum days following along with it live.
I mentioned the artist in the alt text, but I might as well tag him, too, since I’ve belatedly discovered that he does indeed have an account here: @mookiebean.bsky.social is the person responsible for the fact that I cannot see a cat leaping like that without thinking “Death from above!”
I think you misread it. I'm sure it says, "This town was saved by a squadron of cats who, after receiving a dose of radiation from Fukushima, transformed into Astro-Cats and quite ferociously attacked several rapidly-moving spots from a space laser."
Sorry, I am a Japanese living in Japan and this sign is a made-up joke.
The actual road signs are not this thick, and there is no official “beware of cats jumping out” sign.
Can you tell me where this picture was taken if it is real? If I am wrong I would like to know the truth.
My wife could have used that in college.
Her cat liked to sit on a dresser near the door and jump onto the shoulders of anybody who came in.
I learned to leave my jacket on any time I was visiting
to protect against the first jump.
My fear has always been that future gens will see things like this and excitedly assume the Ancients must have buried some amazing treasure down there, guarded by Triangles of Death
That's certainly a good one. It's like, let's hire Randall Munroe to visually convey that here lies horrific doom, whee! But really, who better to get the idea across clearly, simply, cleanly? I can't think of a single soul.
