Well, sorry to hear this. Would love to have you join our little parish. We call ourselves, "the parish of the misfit toys" because we don't really fit in the normal parish.
There's nothing better than spending Sunday morning in bed with a cup of coffee, the TV on, and my cat curled up next to me, purring in contentment. At least for the first hour. Then it's time to make breakfast. Yesterday was biscuits and gravy, with an egg on top. Sunday morning decadence.
I've met one truly nice person when I was in confirmation classes. We've been friends for over 30 years. We've both left the church because there are many hateful, so-called christians now. I don't need the fear of hell to be a good person. If one needs that, maybe they aren't a good person.
Good to know you are living in peace with yourself and your friend. The terror of the Catholic Church is the source of so much hatred, war and suffering.
Please tell me you’ve seen the early Simpson’s episode where Homer stays home from Church on a cold, cold Sunday morning! (he makes those amazing waffles).
This is so simplistic. Communist countries tried to ban religion. People have died for the right to worship. Every culture has some spiritual connection interpreted in their own version of reality. Religions feed/ house millions collectively or do harm. Enjoy your choice, no simplistic judgement.
People have also died for the right not to worship. Forced religion and its associated violence has been way more prevalent in history than forced atheism or agnosticism. Religious persecution has almost always been because the state favors one religion rather than opposes it altogether
Republican or democrat, liberal or conservative, male or female, religious or not….binary choices are not helpful. It’s how we get into arguments with false choices. Diversity allows space and complexity and discussion. That’s all I’m saying.
I also like to avoid places where hypocrites pretend to believe in an illusory sky daddy. Should my disbelief in said invisible sky daddy make them cross…even better.
First Church of Reality, I like it. I visited a Unitarian Church in Reston many years ago and I was shocked to see they actually believed in reality and other cool things.
Lucky, meeting the parents for breakfast. At Denny's :(
Dad is 84, and yesterday he told me he just wants a man's breakfast!!! Simple. I tries to explain to him you can get your "Mans Breakfast" at most places....but nope,...so, shit.
Good for you! My wife and I have also stopped going to church on Sundays. Its nice to have an extra day to do something more interesting and wholesome than church!
Growing up, my parents would often take us down to the Rock Quarry where my dad worked on beautiful Sundays.
My brother and I would play on the rock piles or, on hot days, swim in the deep pools that filled the mined holes.
Sundays for me always meant Family and Nature.
Which, to me, is "God".
Tom Petty on the Catholic Church: "I'm fine with whatever religion you want to have… [But] if I was in a club, and I found out that there had been generations of people abusing children, and then that club was covering that up, I would quit the club. And I wouldn't give them any more money."

I am once again enjoying my personal relationship with reality by staying in bed this Sunday morning instead of going to the weekly Sunday Fantasy Fest.
You ARE a good mum. When you saw it for what it was, you didn't blindly stick to it and showed them that life, people and beliefs can (and should) change. That's true personal growth - well done. Genuinely!
Same. I saw the ugly greediness of churches clamoring to be allowed to be open with little/no regard for public health in 2020. Haven’t gone back & don't plan to. I still pray every day.
And sadly you can see those people who hate Jesus Christ and God the Father and they have made the choice to go to hell on here and even saying vile things that only degenerate people would speak about heaven & God, their destination has already been picked out and once there they can never get out
Jesus also said no personal visits...where Matthew 24:25-27, Paul had a trial 2nd Timothy 1:15 and 4:16, his trial was in Ephesus they found him to be a liar and an imposter where Revelation 2:2. Jesus warned one would come in his own name...Jn5:43. Most churches do not preach Jesus but Paul. Rv2.2
As you should because most churches have become Pauline churches they no longer follow Jesus but follow false Paul who has five different conversion stories where... Acts9 22 26 Gal1 1Cor9...
And I didn't go to Sephora today... what a useless post on what you didn't do, except wake up ready to make other people feel bad for no reason whatsoever.
My preacher when he moved to this area started to visit or call people that had not attended in awhile. One couple threw him off a bit.
Do you you still a church?, he asked.
We watch Green Acres every Sunday, was the answer.
He was confused until he found out Green Acres is the local mega church.
I laid in bed all day with popcorn and a box of pink Moscato. I watched 3 movies, 2 episodes of Andor, and the Phillies game. I've never done that before. It was a blissful escape!

A lot of ‘em are just tax-free maga meetings, and have been for decades. 🤷♀️
Ok, once in high school. But she was cute.
Karma could do with pulling her knickers up and getting to it as well!
I'm told.

They spread lies and disinformation to their followers collect obscene amounts of money and don’t pay taxes.
They’re the conduit for the hard right to build a coalition of Nazis.
I pray in my sleep

Covid and Trump brought it all out in the open. Ppl I’ve know for 27 years, showed their true colors. And it was ugly.
Not a brag I’d say.

Bed amplifies truths
Best stay in bed
I pray Ben and Jerry's just shows up on the bedside table.
