I’m nearly done with this one! I really, really am enjoying learning how to embroider. I’ll be making embroidered ornaments for the kids and my parents for Christmas this year too!

I am so happy to see this. I do needlepoint and have been scoffed at my so many people. It’s stress relieving and our ‘art’. Followed. Please post more.
That's lovely! I wonder if I might enjoy embroidary. I love that you're planning to make little ornaments for your family! I'm 70 and retired. Retired people do embroidary, right? Maybe I will take it up. 😊
Yes yes yes! It’s beautiful! I picked up hand embroidery a couple years ago and created this project. I rarely get the time to sit down and create and rn I’m fixated on crocheting 🥰
Lovely! Was this your first attempt at embroidery? I keep thinking it I would like to take this up or x-stitch, but they seem so daunting after doing needlepoint--which I started during the pandemic--which is basically paint by number with yarn.
That's pretty much what counted cross stitch is, too, except that you start with a blank canvas and a chart that tells you where the colors go. You can get x-stitch kits for simple little Christmas ornaments or such things to get started. I've done that since high school, just started embroidery.
I think it's the blank canvas & the counting that throws me from starting x-stitch. However, needlepoint is pricy and there aren't many designs that interest me. Cross-stitch and embroidery have a world of fun and fabulous designs. Good luck with your needlework!
I've got a bunch of "learn to design" books with alphabets and little motifs for x-stitch. That and some graph paper are a good way to create your own stuff. Or there are websites where you upload a picture and turn it into a chart.
