Probably not good that the answer to “which companies would collaborate with a fascist regime that’s trying to kill their employees and customers?” is “basically all of them”

It's clear so so so so many people did not have to read The Jungle when they were in school. If you'd like a taste of what the future holds it's allllll in there :(
Yeah, my husband found this Target card and said ‘this is your credit card.’ And I said ‘chop it up and throw it away, I’m not shopping at the racism store’ and he asked ‘where ARE you going to shop then?’ (The LESS RACISM store, clearly but…)
It seems that, for most large companies, the bottom line is the only priority. If preaching compassion is profitable, they'll do that. If the opposite is beneficial to their goals, then that becomes the rule.
Basically all of them: cars that blow up, clothing that catches on fire easily, food that will poison you and medicine that will cause you to have explosive diarrhea for the rest of your life. Yeah, that covers it. Oh, I forgot toxic toys!
Marx was anti-authoritarian which I think is critical to understand when trying to levy any criticism against Marxism. What happened did not go according to plan as democracy was always a critical yet missing part. Iirc he wasn't for central planning either +2c
Appreciate you pointing this out—it made me go back and look more closely. You're right: in The Communist Manifesto, Marx did advocate centralizing production under the workers' state (the proletariat organized as the ruling class)...
But the historical context matters. He was pushing back against monarchies, empires, and a rising capitalist elite. That centralization was meant as a transitional tool to dismantle bourgeois control—not a permanent model. The goal was a stateless, classless society...
Marxism called for the democratization of the work place, no more boss/cro/manager, the workers are supposed to vote for them. It never intended a state run top down economy.
Communism is integral to the marxist critique of capitalism. It is the logical progression that stems from the inherent contradictions of capital. It's like saying 1 + 1 but getting mad when you answer 2.
This is the thing isn't it? The successor to the fascist regime tends to go "it's quite complicated to decide and implement actual consequences so why don't we all just move on"?
Profit over people. That's why capitalism can't go unregulated, or the people at the top get too much power and remove all the remaining barriers to higher profits and wealth hoarding.
"No customers? Then no money, no stock, no sales, no jobs." - FIFY
Impoverished customers, deported customers, killed customers would generate little or no revenue 🤷♂️
The people making the decisions are so disconnected from the day to day of interacting with the customers that some don't even know what the product is anymore. There's a dozen layers of management and abstraction. They're already dehumanizing them, fascism is just the next logical step.
We get to focus our efforts on harnessing the power of the people. Boycott Google, Walmart, Amazon, Coca-Cola, Tesla, Chevron.

Put your finger in the air show you care.
In the US many foreign born doctors staff rural hospitals and towns. Cutting Medicaid will decimate the financial support of those hospitals and all nursing homes ( 2/3 of nh pts are on Medicaid).
Loss of the hospital, those jobs and health services will kill many small towns.
Their purpose is (supposed to be) to prohibit unethical activity and promote ethical activity.
Unfortunately, that's not what is happening right now, so what you said about picking winners and losers is now up to more personal, self-preserving matters rather than what's right.
I don't think the federal government should be promoting anything. They have few and very specific directives in the Constitution. They should stick to it, stop the 24/7 legislation and go back to our Constitutional roots.
Let the states make the bulk of the laws, as was intended.
Of course, businesses need to make money. But that doesn't mean they have to support the current Republicans. Sure, they might not make as MUCH money, but the business could still survive and grow while remaining apolitical or supporting Democrats.
It's like the exact opposite of 'name all the good billionaires.' there are none, but the Venn diagram of people who own companies that would do that and who are billionaires is almost a perfect circle.
Capitalists will flock to fascists to safeguard their money. But I don't think Dems like schumer are doing that I think they're sort of standing around trying to figure out what to do. With the status quo they were tasked with maintaining shattered, what is their purpose? (The answer is no purpose)
Anyone who thinks companies that have been exploiting American workers for all these years are gonna stand up and all of a sudden put people over profits is delusional.
Capitalists & Communism would that be. Capitalists have basically built the industry of the bloody Soviet empire and were paid in money extorted from population ravaged by hunger.
Not really, since capitalism and communism are directly opposed economic idealogies. Russia hasn't been a truly communist society since at least the late 80's (arguably much earlier) and the Oligarchs they have now are a product of the 90s when the Grip of the party really loosened.

to make more sense.
they need *us*…we don’t need them…at all…
take heart 😁
The point is they don't care EITHER WAY. Corps are psychopaths, only valuing profit
The markets are falling not because of Trump's dictator tendencies per se, just the erratic pace, which destabilizes profits
What world are people living in today where they think they deserve something from others just for existing?
Impoverished customers, deported customers, killed customers would generate little or no revenue 🤷♂️
I think I know what it is...
Gary Oldman, which assholes are gonna collaborate with the fascists?

Leopards.
Are they teaching the basics of business and economies anymore? Seems like a lot of really confused people in this thread.
We shouldn't have elected officials trying to pick winner and losers. Where are their ethics?

If a CEO said your plan to their company they'd be replaced by their investors the next day.
Capitalists & Fascism, name a more iconic duo.
