Amid this reckoning over the inhumanity and dysfunction of the American health care system keep in mind you're being asked to believe the same system is treating trans people *too* efficiently

That’s why the whole Trump line that kids at school getting surgeries was almost laughable. Like you seriously expect me to believe that anyone in the country is getting free surgeries, trans or not?!? And on the same day that they ask for it?!? Seriously, what imagination land are they living in.
The idea that trans people are able to get healthcare or surgery at the snap of a finger is crazy not just because of the fact of how trans healthcare works but the facts of how any healthcare in this country works. Unless you are bleeding out in the ER no one is getting things that quick or easy.
His line was never about surgery and it's a huge fail on the part of the media for laughing at him about that instead of figuring out what he was really saying, which is far more insidious.
Out healthcare system is a joke. I tried to get on HRT, was recommended to not take any more meds because it's not good to take too many (paraphrased words of a psychiatrist btw), and then was recommended antidepressants (I already take antidepressants). Our system isn't frothing to help tans people
When he said "your son goes to school and comes home a daughter" it was never surgery, he's talking about teachers and counselors telling kids that it's ok to be trans and to be who they really are.
While I agree that the root of the attack certainly was against teachers and councilors who affirmed kids and supported them using different names and pronouns, he did also specifically states they were getting “brutal operations” which implies a surgery taking place at the school.
I think what happened is that Trump was told about kids secretly socially transitioning in school, didn't know what that meant and assumed it must've meant surgeries, and then when he said that at rallies no one wanted to tell him that he was wrong.
The rhetoric being pushed is that healthcare systems are spending too much time and money funding us trannies for the increasingly expensive and elaborate surgeries we must be having to care about little Timmy’s ruptured appendix.
Class war infighting 101.
You don't hear much these days about the Big Pharma conspiracy to make gazillions off of getting kids hooked on HRT for life, now that major corporations have taken over the government!
"Your teeth are magic bones that only a magic doctor and magic bone insurance can help with. Contacts and glasses aren't a part of your body, so we can't cover those and Lasik is still classified as experimental, so fuck you."
It's simply a question of staffing. You know those immigrants you hear about on the news, who don't want to work, but are driving down pay by stealing all the jobs? They have the exact background in paradoxical employment needed to run the secret transition care clinics in school nurses' offices 🙏
I understand that these immigrants are often themselves trans or genderfluid (they are all 'young men of fighting age', who are at the same time all 'pregnant single mother welfare queens') so it makes sense that they would have vocations in trans healthcare 🥲
Ridiculous fiction. My son started the counseling process about 3 years ago and waited a year for hormones. After a total of five years, we’re going to schedule top surgery.
Trans people are taking up all the gp appointments cis people can’t get, apparently. Occam’s razor tells us people can’t get appointments because our health care system is a mess but people would rather come up with convoluted nonsense.
Yeah, it’s kind of an “angry inch” situation over there. If you’re gay you’re “encouraged” to get grs because it’s seen as less sinful than if you were cis and gay. Actual trans people are seen as delusional and are discriminated against harshly. DO NOT GO TO IRAN FOR GRS.
I mean, people don't believe everyone is being inconvenienced by the system; surely some class is being pampered?
Same as the Latino blowback to Democrats expanding refugee support: my family suffered hardship for decades, why roll out the red carpet to new arrivals rather than compensate us?
And that also applies to the people who think that insurance doesn't regularly deny care to rich people as well; rich people just have better options on how to combat/more ability to exhaust the system.
Right? It's insane. Anyone who has encountered this health care system shouldn't be believing anyone who isn't a 1%er is getting quick and easy access to care.
I thought all doctors wanted more surgeries because of the money. Imagine my surprise when I couldn’t get one to fix my deviated septum which has led to various issues my whole life.?
Part of me wonders if that belief is tapping into healthcare grievances. "The transes are getting free instant surgical care for all their needs while I am getting denied for basic stuff"
"They're rushing them through the system!"
I was in therapy for 9 months and THEN I needed my dad to cosign an informed consent form for HRT. I was 30.

Letting them use preferred names in school, etc.

I'm not applauding Iran. I just tossed that tidbit into the debate because I thought it was interesting.
Pretty efficient!
