Thank you so much for your efforts. I agree with other commenters that some of them have probably lied to you that they "had no idea," but ultimately that's irrelevant. What matters is making sure they know that if they vote to cut NOAA during appropriations, they will be held to account. /1

You don't like politics, but next year is the midterm, and destroying NOAA is very unpopular. They know this. Those who are falsely claiming ignorance (I'll concede some really may not have known) know that they can only get off electorally scot-free for it if people don't know about it. /2

I've been hammering this on Facebook, that the fight about the probationaries is for the courts, and our job is to hammer Congress NOW. Make sure they know that destroying or crippling this agency will NOT be forgotten. I don't think this is the hill they want to die on, figuratively speaking.

The vast majority of the lawmakers I spoke to didn’t know cuts were happening at NOAA/NWS as they were told it wasn’t going to happen. I just kept advocating and fighting.

Here's my question to you - Do you think they were telling you the truth or lying to your face about not knowing about the NOAA/NWS cuts. My guess is that they knew, they don't care & they're too afraid or ambivilent about taking a stand & fighting back. The silence from Congress is maddening.

Keep that passion! I've been passionate about meteorology since 4 yrs old. I've been forecasting the weather professionally since I was a NWS student intern at 18 yrs old when we only had DiFax charts, NWR on a 8 track tape & no access to radar/satellite at a little WSO office (Caribou) I'm 50 now
