Am I the only person that needs to put on a video so I actually do my task? If it’s too quiet I get distracted and start a million things. Give me some of ur most interesting video essays pls so I can get things done!

You can’t go wrong with an Hbomberguy video essay, both in quality, AND quantity of length per video. Why, this one is nearly 4 hours long, and it’s a compelling doozy all the way through.
😁
I can’t stand utter silence. When I was a kid, the school told my parents I needed a quiet place to study and do homework. Needless to say I would get fidgety and couldn’t concentrate. Even now I usually have something on while I’m working.
Caitlin Doughty has a lot of good video essays(usually death related. She is known for 'Ask a Mortician'
ContraPoints is good too.
Kaz Rowe.
Lindsay Ellis.

I'm the same but with instrumental music. I could probably never get real work done with the video essay because I would get too distracted focusing on the words
this is me but with sleeping. I can’t sleep in silence. I can sleep if I’m watching mindless videos on like the lowest brightness settings. Keeps me distracted from the horrors.
Not a video essay but I like putting on either Itchy boots or Tokyo lens. One ride motorcycle across the world and the other explores japan but they are both very calm and relax videographers that take incredible video of the scenery and surroundings and talk a little bit about the areas. So good
Been like that my whole life. I always had to have the radio or TV on to do homework when I was young, and parents thought it was distracting me when it was helping. I still always have a stream or YT on the decades later
Some channels I've found over the years: Jacob Geller, Down the Rabbit Hole, Jenny Nicholson, Lemmino, Jay Exci, Razbuten, Ordinary Things, Neo, Scott the Woz, Super Eyepatch Wolf, Hbomberguy, Daryl Talks Games
You’re not alone! As a kid I usually did homework with the TV on, nowadays when working on something I need at least one video or stream playing in the background.
Not gonna lie. The Life of Pets movie saved me today. Slowly starting to re-engage in the bigger fight ahead of us, but today, my brain needed more lightness. 💙
Noah Gervais' epic video on the Lincoln highway is, in all seriousness, possibly the best video on YouTube IMO. While I recommend giving it your full attention on a first watch, I do think it would make excellent background fodder after that.
If you're into history, Epic History TV has some amazing documentaries available, and when compiled together, are well over two hours long. Perfect for a long task. Also Kings and Generals is amazing too. Pick a playlist, sit back and enjoy.
a podcast not a video but im always listening and relistening to 5-4. it's a leftist american supreme court analysis podcast. they cover both historical and contemporary cases depending on the cycle etc. their latest episode was on a movie so people could have a break from election shittiness though
The only thing that i can have on in the background while I work (without distracting me) is intrumentals or bgms w/o lyrics. Because if I hear people talking, my mind constantly reads into it. So podcasts make me think too hard and streams tempt me out of fomo lol.

Mike's Mic tv show recaps if I want to be able to focus on a video to make what I'm doing less boring
I use these to sleep to. Hope you enjoy!
It was either this or hour+ long Warhammer40k/Darksouls lore.
A classic for me is the Monster Hunter World Playthrough by Wanderbots
And well, there's always the 13 hour compilations of Elden Ring Lore but I mostly put those on for falling asleep 😁
Not sure if you’ve heard of Super Eyepatch Wolf, but he does great video essays and this is the one I show people to give wrestling a shot.

I just usually put something like a click (The Click on yt) video on while doing chores or similar videos of that manner
