Take the fictional characters quiz & post the first four you know: openpsychometrics.org/tests/characters/ I’ve taken this quiz a couple times before, & while the first few characters tend to change each time I take it, the one (accurate) constant is Charlie from “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”.

#Andor is now over. I will now be utterly bereft for the next 7-10 business days. Star Wars isn’t going to be *this good* again for a VERY long time. All hail Tony Gilroy and company! 🙌🏻

Took a picture last night of “Black Mirror: Bandersnatch” still existing on Netflix, before Netflix permanently removed “Bandersnatch” from the platform as of today. Don’t you just LOVE the enforced impermanence of media in the streaming age? Oh, isn’t it all just so GRAND…?

Happy #LetterboxdFriday (circa 09/05/25), everybody! Here be my #LastFourWatched: • “Apostle” (2018) - ★★★★½ • “Havoc” (2025) - ★★ • “The Night Comes For Us” (2018) - ★★★★½ • “The ABCs of Death” (2012) - ★½

The whole world at Jason Blum right now. #FilmSky

Age yourself with a movie you saw in the cinema. #Filmsky 📽️

What does #WrestleMania look like to someone who normally never watches wrestling, and only has a modicum of cursory WWE knowledge to work with? The answer goes a little something like this… 😁 #wrestlemania41 jackandersonkeane.substack.com/p/wrestleman...

I reached my 10th anniversary on Duolingo today. An occasion slightly marred by the fact that all my recorded progress comes from a few weeks (if that) of using it in 2015, before I dropped it for about 8 years, and didn’t pick it up again until 2023, from which my current 2+ year streak stems. 😅😁

Five Cosmic Horror Movies to Get to Know Me: • The Empty Man • Annihilation • The Mist • In The Mouth of Madness • Noroi: The Curse

Lots of amazing details in this, including this story about Andrew Lloyd Webber’s reaction to the 2019 film Cats.

Happy #LetterboxdFriday (circa 11/04/25)! My #LastFourWatched: • “Val” (2021) [in memory of Val Kilmer] ★★★★ • “Lolita” (1962) ★★★½ • “Lolita” (1997) ★★★★ • “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me” (1992) 🔄 / The Q2 Extended Fan-Edit ★★★★★

Having recently read Vladimir Nabokov’s “Lolita”, I was compelled to write this unexpectedly extensive essay comparing the novel to its two film adaptations, plus my imagined pitch for a cinematic re-telling from Dolores’ perspective I want to see… jackandersonkeane.substack.com/p/how-do-you...

Biggest commitment to a 3 second joke I've ever seen

Timeline synchronicity over on Twitter: Trump tariffs edition. (Tangerine Palpatine has done it again! Made everything worse and everyone hate him even more, I mean. Quelle surprise… 🙄)

The worst people in the world are like "They must be getting paid to hate me" when in reality everyone is happy to hate them for free

Repost with a movie you know every word to.

One of many moments in Omar El Akkad’s new book, “One Day, Everyone Will Have Always Been Against This,” that will stop you in your tracks.

There is no moral equivalence between bullies and the bullied, between tyranny and democracy, or between brutality and decency. No individual can be free in a society devoid of justice. There can be no liberty where brutality reigns.

Happy #LetterboxdFriday (circa 28/03/25), folks! My #LastFourWatched: • “Cube” (1997) - rewatch - ★★★★½ • “Cube 2: Hypercube” (2002) - rewatch - ★½ • “Cube Zero” (2004) - rewatch - ★★★ • “Adolescence” (2025) - ★★★★★

My reactions to the ending. #severance

Happy #LetterboxdFriday (circa 21/03/25) to all who celebrate! My #LastFourWatched: • Boiling Point (2019) - the short film - ★★★★ • Boiling Point (2021) - the feature film - ★★★★★ • Boiling Point (2023) - the miniseries (pending a possible future Series 2) - ★★★★ • No Other Land (2024) - ★★★★★

I was today years old when I learned that America’s Grubhub, and the UK’s Just Eat, are one and the same. Guess I’d better add it to the unofficial list in my head of the US and UK arbitrarily changing brand names between one another for the same things.

You’re damn right #Severance has a Season 3 renewal! With everything that took place in the S2 finale of “Cold Harbor”, if there WASN’T a 3rd season incoming after all that, I would have SCREAMED. PRAISE KIER! (But ironically so, and *definitely* not the real life Starmer variety…) 😁

Roses are red Violets are blue

Oh god. I just realised we are only mere hours away from the Season 2 finale of #Severance, and then having to wait another two-to-three years for the next season to arrive. I am not emotionally prepared. 🫨🫨🫨

I finally watched #NoOtherLand, and I can already feel the stomach ulcers forming in my guts from the sheer apoplectic rage coursing through my body as we speak. Not just from the indisputable injustices Israeli settlers and military forces commit against Palestinians…

Doesn’t matter how many years I’ve written about film & television - I will *always* wind up having to Google the difference between DIEGETIC and NON-DIEGETIC sound to remind myself which is which without mixing them up, even though I’ve looked it up a thousand times before for this exact reason. 🙄😁

I felt Mr. Milchick's pain. Don't tell me I can't use "big words". As a logophile, I take umbrage at the notion that such an exemplary skill could be regarded unfavorably. #Severance

I know the Oscars are old news already, but I’ve been writing this piece for almost 2 weeks, so I’ve got to share it to make it feel like it was worth the time, you understand. 😁 jackandersonkeane.substack.com/p/i-correctl...

My favourite genres: 5) Serial killers making political/philosophical performance art tableaus. 4) They messed with the wrong man/woman… now they’re gonna pay. 3) One long, crazy night, before it all ends tomorrow. 2) We played god! What could go wrong?! 1) Samuel L. Jackson giving The Glare™.

More of this!

Okayyyyy, so I’ve spent more-or-less 12 hours of my day (from 7-something-AM to 7-something-PM) binge-watching 14 episodes of #Severance in a row across seasons 1 and 2, and I am happy to announce that at long last, I AM FINALLY CAUGHT UP TO DATE, and NO LONGER LIVING IN FEAR OF SPOILERS!! 🥳😄🐐

Whoops. Looks like I’m unintentionally exactly 3 years late (to the day!) on catching up on this episode of #Severance… but hey, I got there eventually, right? 😅

Funny how rich people’s monetary benchmark of being poor is often poor people’s benchmark of being rich. e.g. Alexander Armstrong apparently makes £20,000 per episode of “Pointless”. In my circumstances, it would take me OVER 10 YEARS to ever accrue £20k. So yeah, cry me a river, rich boy.

For comparison, this is my own ratings curve after 4000+ films. One could say I’m perhaps too generous with my ratings (though much less so today than I was in 2015/16, when I used to overzealously hand out 5 stars willy-nilly), but what can I say? It takes a lot for a film to disappoint me! 🤷🏼‍♂️😁

BREAKING NEWS: My dad wrote a book - one he's been working on for almost a whole decade - and today, it is finally officially published for all and sundry to enjoy! 🥳 Have at it, historical fiction enthusiasts! 😁📖 www.amazon.co.uk/Avarice-Empi...

🎉 PUBLICATION DAY! 🎉 After nearly 10 years since first becoming acquainted with the name Charles Agnew, today I’m excited and incredibly proud to finally be able to share his story and celebrate the publication of my debut novel. #historicalfiction #histfic #histbookchat #hfchitchat #worldbookday
