My new phone came with three months of free Apple TV, so this is me officially requesting recommendations! I’m gonna watch EVERYTHING and then cancel in February. :)

Dickinson has a special place in my heart - you gotta love a show that encourages reading poetry and going to a small museum. Co-signing: Bad Sisters, Ted Lasso, and Shrinking. Enjoy 💜
Omgosh I cannot believe I forgot Pachinko! Best openings of all time and a thoughtful and pretty stellar interpretation of @minjinlee.bsky.social ‘s wonderful novel!!!
Slow Horses. Shrinking. For all Mankind. Silo. Foundation. Acapulco. Loot. Invasion. Lessons in Chemistry. Ted Lasso even though I know it's not for everyone.
Apple to a point that is almost comical, does not promote anything on AppleTV really, so there’s a bunch of shows, in varied genres, to watch on there I guarantee you have never heard of. With like “bigger” actors
I don't know if I would recommend Foundation but rather I'd love your take on it. It made cry babies angry because of casting choices. The books are dry as hell slogs but they made a lot of changes to make it a coherent narrative as a show. It is an interesting case study in adaptation.
For All Mankind, an alternate history where the US lost the space race and so kept funding NASA out of spite/embarrassment, Silo, based on the Wool/Shift/Dust books with a cool Fallout Vault-but-unique premise, and Foundation for shirtless Lee Pace
Slow Horses, Severance, Ted Lasso, I know folks who swear by Shrinking too. Prehistoric Planet is fun dinosaur history, Hijack is a great tense real-time thriller. There’s a lot of great stuff!
Acapulco, it’s one of my most rewatched shows. Come From Away is worth a watch. Where’s Wanda is fun. Dickinson if you’re into anachronistic historical shows.
I’ve absolutely loved Ted Lasso. I’ve dabbled in For All Mankind as well, which has had some really good bits too, but Ted Lasso has by far been my favorite.
Severance has already been said, so putting in a vote for Pachinko! Absolutely searing drama from a Korean perspective, jumping between Japanese occupation in the early part of the 20th century, and following the same family in the 80s. Incredible -and- I learned so much
Central Park is really fun if you like musicals. It’s a cartoon with Leslie Odom Jr. voicing Owen Tillerman, the manager of Central Park. Also has Josh Gad, Kathryn Hahn, Daveed Diggs, Stanley Tucci.
The film Finch is an excellent sci-fi tale, visually inventive, emotionally resonant and smart, and with a great Tom Hanks performance. Was to have been a big studio theatrical release until Covid hit.
Oh! Sarah and Duck is on there! Chill british suburban magical realism. Personally tied with Bluey for only kids show i will enthusiasticly watch with my kid.
Ted Lasso and Foundation. Mythic Quest you also might like, or it might cause you to cringe and flee as it may hit too close to your professional life.
Severance is far and away the best show on there! I liked Foundation somewhat- amazing cast and design but I was more interested in how they handled the books than the actual plot. But I heard it gets a lot better after the first season.
For All Mankind is also really good, but has characters you will HATE that stick around fucking forever. On the other hand, I cried several times a season so... yeah it's really good.
Invasion is polarizing. I liked it, slow burn with plenty of intrigue... but I've heard others didn't stick.
Ted Lasso. Best show of the pandemic to make you feel faith in humanity. The premise feels entirely predictable and it spends the rest of the series running away from what you expect.

The Charlie Brown specials? I think PBS still airs them each year, but otherwise they're just siloed away on the service.
Oh, Silo, that too.
Lessons in Chemistry
Shrinking
Enjoy!
(Although there are a lot of other good shows)
(+ another vote for severance!)
wolfwalkers
Lessons In Chemistry…Brie Larson crushed the role.
Monarch is a fun godzilla-adjacent adventure show.
Servant is a wild ride that’s sort of Rosemary’s Baby-ish
Foundation is excellent, and differs heavily from the books (which is good; the books would be bad TV)
Monarch, also good but (for expectations) a mystery/drama more than kaiju content
Invasion is polarizing. I liked it, slow burn with plenty of intrigue... but I've heard others didn't stick.
