Neat! So these sound to me a lot like random events from IV, but a bit more advanced in terms of what you guys are doing with them, does that sound right to you?
Brilliant. I think it's the main reason why I love the Civ series even if for a long time it felt like a side-effect: The fact that I can use the gameplay as a background for small storylines I come up with. A city with an interesting backstory here, a place of an ancient battle there, etc.
Love that you delve into the narrative system and then offhandedly mention that it fixes three of my biggest issues with past Civ games. Like giving me a puppy with a diamond ring in its belly.
I've never played a Civ game before so when I started reading this, I was curious but that curiosity gradually turned into hype and now I'm more excited than ever to play a Civ!
Also, I really appreciate and look forward to seeing a What-If Scenario for Ashoka!
I've always been a fan of Civ, but Civ VII having an emergent narrative system makes me very excited about it. As long as it supports Steam Deck at launch I'm in. This also makes me want an X-Com 3 that adds a proper relationship and emergent narrative systems ;)
