I have a different argument, beside the fact it would create a political horror show, set a precedent which would be used by Rs. When the 14th was written, the definition of an insurrectionist was simple: a man who fought for the Confed. 40+% of the country doesn't believe 1/6 was an insurrection.

Also, they'll use it as "precedent" anyway. Trump is *already* promising to weaponize the government in "retaliation" for things Dems haven't done. And his supporters cheer.
