it's a lot dumber and less well written than The Fugitive, so that accounts for a lot of it, but Petersen directs the hell out of the movie, and honestly, the stupidity is so entertaining

It's very goofy, but would not be out of place in the Hangover Canon. The Fugitive (a film I love) would probably not enjoy the same reputation were it not for constant cable reruns insisting upon reappraisal. That's what AF1 needs.
