It's also worthwhile to point out that the EPA was started by tree hugging, blunt huffing liberal stalwart Richard Milhous Nixon, who was President when large swaths of a moving body of water, the Cuyahoga River in Ohio, had become so polluted that it would sporatically catch fire many times a year.

In the 1970's I lived next to a river downstream from a major metropolitan and manufacturing city. The chemical stench from that river was eye watering and after every large rain, raw sewage would float by. Occasionally us kids would collect deformed frogs and fish. I don't want to go back in time.

I grew up in a small farming town in the midwest. The local farm supply store (and farmers) would burn all the pesticide bags and fertilizer bags. Every spring and fall I would end up in the hospital w/ asthma. It was so toxic! Once I moved away, no more asthma. Why are we okay with going backwards?

We lived in a small mill town. The snow was coated black, and the laundry brought-in a peppering of soot from coal boilers. Every puddle wore an oily rainbow of gas as flattened cans and litter twisted in the wind. A toxic meringue blanketed the river so thick, it seemed you could cross it on foot.

I remember, but with no EPA, we will all suffer from respiratory issues. Older folks remember what it was like. When I moved to Traverse City, Michigan, and was away from the city a few years, could I tell the smell and the industrial garbage.
