We watched for weeks, pre-attack, as Russia positioned its forces around Ukraine. We saw the maps. I remember the horror when military analysts noted that blood supplies were being positioned, close to the attack date. Putin had a mission and he would not be deterred.

I've always wondered if there's a point at which the cognitive dissonance breaks and in which direction. I get the impression owning up to reality would mean facing the fact that they were extremely wrong and made a huge mistake and people really hate facing that.
