Yeah. They got all their character arcs done in one go. And we don't have to listen to dudes in their 40s complain about how Madmartigan couldn't be written nowadays.
3) Star Wars may not always get it right, but it has the longevity and breadth of storytelling that pales in comparison to Willow. If given the same longevity, could Willow pull off the same track record when they tried one TV series that didn't hit the mark?
2) Then, Stars Wars had several animated series (all universally well received), The Mandalorian (started off great, still has its moments, but lately mixed reviews), Rogue One (one of the best in the series), The Han Solo movie, and Ahsoka and Obi-Wan series (all mixed).
1) While not wrong, Willow has had 1 movie (that was a classic) and 1 TV series (that had mixed reviews), while Stars Wars has had The Original Trilogy (all classics), The Prequel Trilogy (started out with mixed reviews and got better as the movies went on), The Rey Trilogy (mixed at best)
Disclaimer: In my brain "most" = "all but the original trilogy, though you could make an argument that while not as groundbreaking / gene-defining, it is much more rewatchable than Episode 4."
If you released Willow today, a bunch of asshole would be howling about it was "woke" because Madmartigan learns that his racism is wrong partway through the film.
8 year old me had the biggest crush on Madmartigan! My mom almost spit out her coffee when I told her I wanted his hair entwined with mine! 😅 Still love that movie.
Oh sorry, got distracted... yes, it probably is better than most of the SW films.
I mean, given that there have been eleven Star Wars movies and maybe 4 of them weren't bad movies, any randomly-selected halfway decent film is "better than most Star Wars movies".
If Willow, Indy Jones and OG Star Wars are, as oft rumoured, Lucas writing around copyrights because older ip holders knocked him back, the only way to get him to make better movies is to tell him he can't use them
The older brother in Happy Days, Chuck Cunningham, disappeared after S1. The same actor plays Airk in Willow.
My theory is that Chuck fell through a portal from Milwaukee to Nockmaar, changed his name, made friends with Madmartigan, and became a mercenary who sometimes dreams of Richie and Joanie.
Saying when you think Star Wars movies got bad says nothing except how old you are. Star Wars films accused by fans of ruining the franchise when they came out so far: Literally all of them.
Nah. All franchises have discussions and disagreements about which ones are better or worse. Star Wars very specifically has "everything that came out after I stopped being a little kid is bad and wrong and everything from before that is solid gold."
I think the original post should have stated whether it was just considering the original 3 or the entire franchise. Willow is definitely better than that movie they are going to make where Chewbacca teams up with the Incredibles to save Elsa and Anna from Malificent.

There are good movies, and there are good Star Wars movies, and these are different things.

But man
I gotta watch Willow again

The much more controversial Strong Weinersmith Conjecture can be formulated thusly:
Most things are better than all Star Wars movies.
Willow's quite good.
