It's why I don't hang around in a lot of retro game-related community circles. A number of old heads that still feel like they gotta rep the toxic old days of the internet. For example, the Sega-16 message boards are mostly dead but the few folks still around are very transphobic.

Unfortunately I feel it's become a circular ecosystem. Retro influencers and niche publishers need each other to make money off people who otherwise will never find actual games out there. How else can Retro Rick grow from a thrift store hobbyist to owning an actual vintage game store?
