A while back I was helping examine the security of the Starlink terminal and found a very obvious bug in the bootloader that was only unexploitable due to the memory layout of the terminal. Critical infrastructure shouldn't depend on Starlink without a shitload of auditing.

The original concept of the internet (ARPANET) was designed for resilient communications. Full stop.
Trump MAGATs, GOP & Musk are RUSSIAN ACOLYTES..
Musk is feeding all information on StarLink Networks to Russian intercepts.

I'm pretty much serious on this, and I said this before the election.
A swarm of basically cubesats in LEO wasn't a great leap, it polluted orbit, and made fundamental science harder, to which M said "no _real_ science can't afford a moon telescope".
It's not great tech.

He's the largest contractor for the US, yet he's in charge of all of the data, other bids, etc.. total farce.
Starlink has some LEO competition. And some MEO is already running. But am I right in thinking a fiber upgrade gives you much more control of the system and allows more backups and redundancies? For safety and security?
I also don't buy elmo's excuses why starlink is 'needed'
But I guess all security people have been fired already.

The amount of latitude he's been afforded to endager peoples lives and livelihood is inconceivable.
Hacking is bad though I cannot say I advise that. But these are great personal security devices.
If I'm being honest, it worked insanely well compared to the equipment we'd usually use 😅
To your point, though, it does feel very opaque. I'm not surprised to hear about issues like this inside the terminal.
