I love paperbacks but I am fully in my ebook era. I have a small baby and I can read at night with no light on / with one hand while the other cradles her sleeping or feeding.
I've been listening to audiobooks since back when they would send you a little device to load them to - late 90s I think. I'm almost exclusively audio and read over 100 books a year. I did read one actual book this year and will probably mix in one here and there. :)
Ebook! Never thought I'd jump on the bandwagon, but once I did I can't jump off. I went from 60-75 books annually to 322 books last year and so far 213 this year.
I love audiobooks for my commute and while I’m doing tasks around the house. I physically read ebooks, especially if I can get them on Libby. I save a ton of money not buying physical copies
Paperback. I have CP, so my left hand doesn’t work well, it’s hard to hold hardbacks.
lol I’m also very old school and love the feeling and smell of a book
I just got a kindle recently and I cannot stop reading E-Books. They’re so convenient, so nice, and i can actually read in bed without straining my neck. i adore it. i can’t wait to get the colorsoft.
I am the opposite lately. I can’t sit long enough or focus on the words. Audiobooks work well so I can clean, work, or drive. I miss curling up with a book though ☹️
They don’t but after a few minutes my brain changes them itself. So unless a narrator has a really irritating style that doesn’t allow me to do this, I don’t care.
My other issue with audio books is they tend to put me to sleep (like getting read a bedtime story as a child lol)… but give me a physical book and I’ll be up all night just to finish one more chapter 🤷🏻♀️
Paperback and hardback all the way, Ebooks and pdfs hurt my eyes and I like to be able to hold the book and see how pretty it looks with my other books
All except for Audiobooks, those bore me. I usually prefer ebooks as I can take more with me when traveling. But I love the smell of old books and discover new gems in an old book store.
Depends - traveling I bring my ebooks as easier to travel with several books. At home, I’ll read on any format. I would rather a physical copy, nothing beats actually turning the pages!
Any form of book I can get for cheap. I rarely buy new books and thrifted books are like treasure. They need saving from landfill and on retirement income I can do that at least. Haven’t really taken to audiobooks yet. Ebooks are handy but I prefer paper
All of the above but mostly audio so I can listen while I'm doing other things. If I'm reading history or something based in real life it has to be physical or for some reason I can't focus enough to actually grasp what's happening. Ebooks are nice for convenience when I'm traveling.
Totally get ya! Needs to be physical to focus! And def convenient to travel with ebooks though paperbacks and hardbacks do add a nice, but heavy, aesthetic!
Paperback and hardback during the day. kindle at night because of the light so my husband can go to bed early. Audiobook when driving. It needs to be a kindle or physical book to get out of awkward conversations in waiting rooms.
Yes, all of them. The one at hand is the way I'm reading, unless I'm driving or doing something mindless, like folding laundry, then it's audiobooks. I rarely buy, but I often recommend books for my library to buy
I love reading print books but as I've aged my vision and arthritis in my hands has become an issue. Ebooks and audio books have allowed me to read without pain.
i love physical books the most, paperbacks are ok but i really like hardbacks (especially if they have a nice cover)
Occasionally listen to audiobooks but it depends on the voice of the person reading. Ebooks are one i dont often do but they are good also.
Totally get ya! Ive recently been obsessed with The Timekeeper's Secret Timeless Fate book covers! Like look at them! Super gorgeous! 😍 They look so nice on my book shelf!
Lemme spill a secret I learnt... most efficient is any-format + audiobook.
As standalone, audiobooks often don't feel enough but they're convenient for multi-tasking. Best to switch to audiobook when you're away from regular book/PDF. (Also helps to play in parallel when it's hard to concentrate)
Sadly with my eyes it’s Kindle, do miss the smell of old books and the sound of pages turned. Still mooch in book shops when out and about and buy the occasionally old book x
ebook, because it’s fast, and my capacity for delayed gratification is severely diminished (and also paperbacks weigh down my baggage when I go on holiday). But I do like a real book, and I will buy them if I’m in a bookshop.
E-books only. That way my reading material is always with me. Like how iPhone and iPad sync up. Had a huge paperback library previously. Gave them all to libraries when I went electronic.
I love this question! I absolutely love hardback! The book must be good for me to even purchase paperback 🫠
If in a time crunch to read, I will listen to audiobook as well. For some reason, I don’t really care for ebooks.
Totally makes sense! Same here, the book must be really good for me to get a hardback/paperback! That's why I have every book of The Timekeeper's Secret Timeless Fate Series as a physical because the covers are gorgeous and the story is just soo good! Like, look at these!😍
I really like ebook. I can fit several on my Kindle, it's super light to carry around and I can read in bed with the lights off so I don't disturb my wife.
All of the above. Audio for bedtime and walks. Kindle for holidays and rare down time and book books for in the classroom, reading to my class or reading to my grandson.
I usually read on my kindle tablet but after a while I invited my wife to go to the library with me and use their service. So we've both been reading a lot of physical books now and it can hold a certain nostalgia to it.
love a paper back but can be awkward when reading longer books which is where i prefer a ebook or audiobook. Reading shogun can hurt your hands, cant image reading a stormlight archive book, some reasons hardbacks are not great.
Paperback all day! I dabble in ebooks every now and then when I want to read on the go without judgement. I'll also do an audiobook if I'm feeling fancy.
Yes. But audiobook for commutes. Paperback, when I can. Ebook, when I can't. Hardcover is reserved for my favorite authors. And leather-bound for my all-time favorite stories.
Audiobooks if i have to get through a book fast
Hardback if i want to display the book
Paperback if i want to let people know what book im reading
Ebook if i cant find the book in real life
I prefer physical books when I can have them. But I also read a fair amount of ebooks. I have trouble staying focused for audio books so only read those on long car trips.
I read lots of ebooks but you know once in a while I grab a real book because I add it to my library especially poetry or books I love but I like the format of ebooks also I tried to read Pale Fire ebook and it doesn’t work well with the way the book is written
Living where we do, without a bookshop at all, Kindles are the only way! At least then we can buy and read books as they come out. And we are prodigious readers here. I do own quite a few books, but our Kindle library is huuuuuuuge!
I fell in love with Audiobooks because I can get some much other stuff done while consuming the knowledge. I could be in the shower, at my desk at work, or just driving somewhere and I don’t have to stop!

(my 7yo still sleeps w me. Kindle app w white on black doesn’t keep her up)
My main relaxation is to listen to a book while putting together a puzzle. The narration can bring it to life! (Or💀 it, like “This Little Life”)

Love a good audio book during work, but otherwise, I want to create the voices in my head.
You get something extra from hearing someone tell their own story in their own voice, something you just don't get from text alone.
I've also heard good things about "Kitchen Confidential" by Anthony Bourdain & "Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood" by Trevor Noah.
Audiobooks only for fun while driving or cleaning.

Occasionally listen to audiobooks but it depends on the voice of the person reading. Ebooks are one i dont often do but they are good also.
Now if only I could buy ebooks from indie bookstores.
As standalone, audiobooks often don't feel enough but they're convenient for multi-tasking. Best to switch to audiobook when you're away from regular book/PDF. (Also helps to play in parallel when it's hard to concentrate)
Paperback is winning.
If in a time crunch to read, I will listen to audiobook as well. For some reason, I don’t really care for ebooks.
A small paper back is best imo.
Hardback if i want to display the book

While traveling: kindle.
When it’s time to clean my house: “why tf do I have so many paperback books?!”
