okay, I'm curious if this is just me, a millennial and younger thing, or universal: telephones are those big things that don't have screens and live on answering machines. in the olden days they had cords and in the really older days you dialed with a circle thing. but MY phone is not a telephone

It amazed me that emergency services were assigned 999 as this took a long time to dial.
That “olden days/really older days” makes me feel like I should turn to dust though!
Though tbh when someone says “telephone” I still think “landline phone” and not mobile phones (or cell. Wow words!)
Mind you I do still talk about "taping" things on the Sky box. The future is patchy...
That was when we all shared the same phone line. Everyone was on it.
Even though we’re well past the point where smartphones are just PDAs that can “do the phone thing” they still are a type of phone in my head, but I 100% agree, not a “TELEphone”
My phone is my phone.
I have a telephone because my apartment building doesn't like my cell number so I have a cheap VoIP line for the buzzer.
Telephone is definitely landlines to me at this point.
