as a REAL neurodiverse woman, I'm completely incapable of doing anything, and for you to suggest that I AM capable of doing ANYTHING would be ableism. please refrain from suggesting I am ever wrong about anything. Or else!
Maybe I'm reading into things, but I think the person implying that neurodivergent people don't understand jokes might be the abelist one.
That said, there's so much abelism floating around on here. Why bother reaching like this when they could have simply kept scrolling and found some organically?
An extremely neurotypical podcast all around, with the very neurotypical premise of “I did a deep dive of research into an (often) obscure mayor and I’m going to tell my two neurotypical friends who share the mayor neurotypical special interest about it.”
My father died slipping on a banana peel and falling into an open sewer where he got bonked on the head with a bowling ball and his pants fell down, so no, I don’t think I’ll be “laughing” at “comedy” any time soon. Show some respect!
Me when I found out my two options were getting a PhD or cutting rotting salmon in half with a machete for 13 dollars an hour (not that there is anything wrong with doing spawn counts)(You cut them in half so you know they have been counted)
that's right kelsey. preordering SIMPLICITY from your local bookstore or asking your local library to purchase it is one of the only forms of praxis available
you should have left their name just so we could all block them.
I try to remind myself when i'm replying to someone that I'm being sarcastic with a comment because I am on the spectrum and sometimes forget that not everyone understands sarcasm.
many people on the internet are yet to realize that every single thing that has ever happened is not about them personally and this will continue until the rise of the Meat Christs
this kinda reply i almost always see from folks who probably saw something like "autistic folks often struggle to interpret some social cues like sarcasm" and suddenly think they're the Neurodiverse Whisperer going to battle for all of them
It's just a big spectrum and they think it's just one thing. I don't have a sense of humor myself but I'm glad other people enjoy jokes . No need to ruin the fun. ( I don't have autism)
Pretty sure I did this as a kid when I watched seasons 2-10 of the Simpsons like 10,000 times and I’m sorry to report it only made me worse to be around
Like, ableism against autistic ppl is so so real and it sucks major ass to see people misuse it in this way. Yes I've been deeply hurt in my life by ppl mocking me for not getting their jokes in an autistic way, and even taking advantage of it. This just isn't that, what the hell
There is a disconnect between us and our various levels of support needs.
My takeaway is that people who have support needs that aren't being met are feeling left behind by fellow ND's who are joining those punching down at them.
I'm not saying it's right, but it's the impression I get
