Given Streeting's faith made it hard for him to accept his own sexuality, he was never going to be an LGBT+ ally, was he?
Unfortunately his beliefs now affect others ...
Wes Streeting has never given us the right to be fairly heard; no surprise he's giddy about ignorance justices who never gave us the right to be fairly heard either.
I'm sorry, but where in that ruling did it define what a woman is in the world at large? It was entirely about whether that particular act included transwomen under the term 'women', not about whether they actually are.
Not that a court ruling magically changes people's minds.
As if this man used to work at fucking Stonewall. He'd throw anything and everything overboard just to have his portrait on the staircase in Number 10 one day
When he was working at Stonewall wasn't it in the days though when they weren't trans inclusionary and often at odds with camapaigners over that stance? So it's maybe not so much of an about face as you'd assume.
I recall people supporting his re-election because the pro-Gaza independents movement was dodgy on LGBT rights. Good thing Wes is now outflanking them on the right!
He said he was unable to support himself financially until he got himself elected as a member of Parliament. To me, this explains his entire political career.
He obviously did that just for CV points in his career move. He’s an incredibly cynical politician made worse by religious zeal against non-conforming minorities.
It's not a one man crusade. It's the theory of power for the Labour right. They believe doing and saying the opposite things to their caricature of what Labour supporters believe is morally and strategically the way of winning and retaining power
Streeting is just someone who is very enthusiastic about recieving praise from the press, but I think this tendency to view him as some sort of rogue agent is misguided.
The only times he actually has been made to issue a clarification by the leadership was when he said he understood why RMT workers were on strike, and when he said being hit as a child "never did me any harm".
All that being said I think normal (ie not very online) people have a positive view of Streeting. He is a straight talker. Tbh I find the online abuse he gets predictable and depressing.
If he has any sense he sits the next one out rather than run and lose while having to answer "shouldn't the next leader be a woman?" a hundred and fifty times
I think Labour only picks a more right wing leader than the last one when it's panicking after a whipping
Take solace in the fact that one day you will wake up, and it’ll be the day Streeting finds out that he’s lost the Labour leadership election, realises he’ll never be prime minister and all his dreams come crashing down. I don’t know when it exactly that day will come, but that day will come

Coincidence?

For example, off his own bat he went rather further than what the Cass Report recommended in withdrawing transgender health access.
(The Cass Report itself has been roundly rejected by international experts)
Broadly disliked within the party however.
Unions won't have it, nor will members.
Even if MPs choose I don't think he makes it, unless you arrange a coronation.
