My high school boyfriend’s dad was a Welsh national and his mom was from North Carolina. He swore up and down his dad didn’t have an accent. Except when his dad pronounced my name, Amanda, like “armada”, he finally noticed that his dad sounded like Michael Sheen.

No, East/South London and the Thames Estuary mostly.

There’s also a stigma attached to it, like using ain’t instead of isn’t, except innit is worse.

The only time I’ve ever used it is when I’m mucking about.

I see, my friend must have just been using it for fun then. Ain’t is very very very common here in the US, I’m from California but I say it all the time. I think the stigma is mostly gone these days, haven’t heard anything about it not being “proper English” since I was little!

Honest answer here: I can usually distinguish between American and UK English writers due to different grammar and word choices. Your writing style does not trigger any of the markers that would lead me to reclassify you away from the American default.
Put more insultingly, you post in American.
