Diagnosis of Autism or ADHD is not to make lives of those with such condition as bad.
They are so ableist that they will never understand why society still others them
"Infantilizing our kids" is such a weird sentence because it implies that children should have the capacity to act like adults and treating them like kids is a bad thing
The best way to get rid of ‘fake’ diagnosis would be to assure every child is professionally screened for mental health issues and that every child and adult has access to necessary care.
I somehow doubt this post is about expanding access to mental healthcare, though.
I have hope that, if confirmed, big Pharma would be active in advocating against and preventing a lot of RFKJ’s lunacy. But that could just be wishful thinking!
He'd be the second coming of Lysenko, and would cause both a big death toll, and a massive chaos in the world as the disappearance of the US from the world powers will cause a big power vacuum
universal affordable/free healthcare *and* no material discrimination against those with a diagnosis. as long as autism diagnosis is a barrier to immigration self-diagnosis will keep existing
Insurance doesn’t cover adult testing a lot of the time. I was insured and my ADHD testing was still around $800. And I’d already been diagnosed as a child, was just confirming I didn’t “grow out of it.”
I had to have my daughter tested when they refused to give her any accommodations in middle school, and they refused to test her. The neuropsychologist's fee, adjusted to today's dollars, was $1744. And I had good insurance, but it was ⚠️not a covered expense⚠️. I had to pay out of pocket.
Never said it was easy or free, but it's not impossible, and especially if we're talking ADHD to be able to legally get the medicine it's something you have to go through. (Also in the states, mental health legally has to be covered under Obamacare, surprised it's harder in Canada)
And you don't think those barriers are felt at a greater impact for neurodivergent people.
And this is ignoring that a lot of neurodivergent people struggle to find and retain employment, and this have insurance The common number is that only 15-30% of us have gainful employment
“Infantilizing” is kind of a weird accusation coming from a political ideology that keeps characterizing the country as a child that needs to be beaten by its father
You just know Cammila was and probably still is the high school bully type, who is afraid of being anything but what society deems normal because she knows how people like her treated people society deems different.
Well the latter part never happened to me. I always had some damn home work or a shower or whatever I had to do when I came in, but often I was out playing until dinner, and then back out again until 8 or 9 depending on how old I was.
But that was MY choice, my parents didn't kick me out "to play".
They want that, while at the same too they will call the cops on any kids that congregate, more so minorities. Go outside, but everything is paved over or way to damn expensive.
Being able to forget they exist so hard that they start running the PSA's again at 10 o'clock reminding them that they indeed have children and should probably remember where they are
they legit want a world where its common for a 15-17 year old to have sloppy grades because they work till 2 or 3 in the morning at some bar washing dishes because their boss wont let them go home.

*Ahem* Please, excuse the unpleasant words I'm about to share..
Slow, backward, retarded, stupid, idiots, moronic.. Ect, ect.
Because no, history was not kind to people who were not within the narrow confides of 'normal'.
They are so ableist that they will never understand why society still others them
sounds a lot like a death camp to me
I somehow doubt this post is about expanding access to mental healthcare, though.
My.
God.
As it is, getting an official diagnosis can be cost-prohibitive, so let’s cut them some slack.
Here in Canada, it falls under mental health, and everything outside of psychiatry or a hospital is paid out of pocket.
ADHD and autism are usually dx'd by a psychologist.
And this is ignoring that a lot of neurodivergent people struggle to find and retain employment, and this have insurance The common number is that only 15-30% of us have gainful employment

Definitely the rallying cry of somebody secure in themself.
That'll make them happy
(Pretty sure it's the third edition that had autism and stuff as a "genuine" mental disorder, correct me if I'm wrong please!)
Mark my words on this
Wait until he finds out what "infant" means.
which.....never happened
But that was MY choice, my parents didn't kick me out "to play".
"lock the kids out of the house during the summer and they can go play and come home when it gets dark"
or my favorite was
"when they turn 18, i will give them $100, pack their shit and change the locks"
1. very-low functioning boys when it comes to advocating for a blanket vaccine ban,
2. fakes when it comes to accommodations to them,
if they don't think the lack of deadly diseases caused the autism.
Dark, evil Big Pharma Magic.
Thus, if you have autism, you are probably enchanted. Maybe you'll turn into a dragon? Who knows?
