I think this - and Will's piece in his next tweet - are about right. Something I feel you often collide with when you write about politics is there are a lot of people who think that 'but that is unpopular' obliges the universe to produce a popular policy option for you.

It posits that the only two choices are (1) idea-A (2) something that *you* have to come up with as an alternative.
Also, the Politician's Syllogism comes into play
1. We must do something.
2. This is something.
3. Therefore, we must do this.
So odd isn't it. Like what's your alternative to the next Army armoured vehicle family?

With Rwanda, the cruelty was the point.
I also wonder why, exactly, Braverman was SO keen on Rwanda specifically…
