Just in case anyone else mistakenly reads hostility into this post, I meant it with great sympathy toward everyone—including my sister and her family!—having to uproot their lives and find clear air and comfort in a scary time
That person obviously doesn't know you, Josh, because you are unfailingly one of the kindest people I've ever "met!" best to you and your loved ones who are fleeing the fires.
Most of these argumentative folks aren't arguing in good faith, but part of me is still glad you have the patience to talk to them in case they're just a high-strung person misunderstanding.
My neighborhood in Los Feliz was greatly affected by the winds with major power lines and giant trees downed. We were without power for 30 hours in our building but others are still without power. A few of my neighbors and I keep a group text to share info during emergencies.
There were explosions when the power went out and power lines whipping around right outside our windows and I was lucky to get hold of the local fire station and they sent a crew, which was comforting to us. When we finally had power back, the Hollywood fire broke out and one neighbor in the group
texted "Just letting you all know, I've packed up and heading to the desert!" The Hollywood fire was the last straw. People just 1/2 mile away from us were evacuating and understandably panicked. Flames were visible to us all.
We are a community! Also, it's good to keep your local fire station's number in your contacts. One neighbor was on hold with LADWP while the other only got a busy signal when calling 9-1-1 . The fire station answered in two rings and had a crew here in minutes because they know the area.
I recommend that everyone create a group chat with neighbors or others in CLOSE PROXIMITY to one another. Those are the folks who can help you in an emergency. We keep one another informed about all going on in the neighborhood, without all the racism you see on Next Door.
Thank goodness there are hotels around there to go to.
I bet those who lost their homes in the Tennessee landslides had hotels in their area or money to pay for them
My husband and I were just talking about post fire and if there will be a mass migration and where it would be to.i mean this really is a traumatic event and people might just want to leave the area

Just don't let them get to you.
Everything is outrageous and everything is worthy of rage but it helps nobody.
I didn't read any hostility in your post, by the way.
there's also the annual Hot Rod show this weekend at the ACE hotel in Palm Springs
