Everything posted on the Internet is public and also there is wisdom in understanding that just because something is public doesn't mean you are meant to be a part of it. People speaking to each other on the street is public and you might overhear it, but it doesn't mean they want you to contribute.

Everyone nearby should join into those conversations as much as possible. Maybe then people will finally stop broadcasting all their calls (esp. since the other person on the line may not be aware they're on speaker).

I like not being the smartest person in the room.
Some posts are you standing there shouting out towards everyone. Some posts are aimed at specific folks.
Sometimes, one must interrupt.
Examples: Someone is being bullied or threatened, or an adult is clearly coercing a minor into illegal activities.
Or if one is just a nosy neighbor...

If you’re posting something on the internet, there’s no way people who see it know what your intentions are in terms of whether you want them to engage.
Posting here or anywhere else online…the overwhelming assumption is engagement.
The only time you might hear this is in a Woody Allen film from the 1970s.
