I was just thinking that myself. Of course, there's going to be a crazy amount of pro bono work, too, and we should all be donating to the legal nonprofits doing the good work.
This big headline suits don’t feed a lot of mouths. What really gets lawyers employed is when a law changes from “don’t do x” to “don’t unreasonably do x.”
When I was a paralegal on the WPPS bond default litigation, one of the DOJ lawyers jokingly called it the "legal full employment act" and thought his kid might end up working on it (said kid was a toddler).
I...have the same same feeling about this era.
Their salivating at all the legal challenges. Trump, with a stroke of his pen, ensured he will be facing court challenges his whole term in office. Be surprised if there is not a big push depending on how loud the voters voices become to impeach him again.
Just because you can rack up billable hours doesn't mean you get paid. Plenty of people are stiffing lawyers these days, who are still officers of the court, and still mandated to do a job...
Some part of the era, while rule of law holds. Pay close attention over the next few weeks as senior military are forced out. They will then declare themselves above the law and round on lawyers that oppose them. Historically, they won't pay lawyers.

Light up their congressional offices, their phones.
Demand they cross the floor, or announce they are now independent.
If 3 members crossed over
Trump would be neutered.

Specializing in governmental cases. Steady dependable work.
I should look into this system.
It’s the most stable job I’ve had, most days I at least feel like I’ve helped some people stay alive, but I’m just watching an ax dangle over my head
