Many, many years ago we had a cat named Smudge. He was dark gray and remined us of the color of the smoke that hung in the air when local orchardist would lite oil fires in "smudge pots" to protect the pear buds from spring frost. Hated smudging but loved Smudge.

Trying to tell my chönky kitty that treats were already dispensed and she has to wait until tomorrow. She promptly went to the litter box, squeezed out a dooky, and didn't cover it. Now I have to smell it.
