Was asked to read the lyrics out at a funeral I was officiating. Dead pan, like it was a Wordsworth poem!
Not sure it went down well with some of the guests!
There's always the IDLES if you want a bit more punk in your (post)Punk protest.
"Danny Nedelko" from _Joy as an Act of Resistance_ is a bit of an audience anthem against anti-immigrant racism...
Back in my hometown of NJ we used to go to this local bar to see this cover band called Sex With Wood and they would bring the house down when they played that song. What great times.
This has been my top song each since I started using Spotify. Loved it since it came out, scary that it became relevant again in the last few years and not just the result of a moment in history...
I just told my boyfriend it’s time to dust off all the ragtm albums. Because of this insanity that’s going on with our country and brain washed republicans. I can’t believe we’ve made all this progress just for it to be erased by this orange bafoon.
In live shows they sing “Some of those that hold office are the same that burn crosses.” I would also recommend “People of the Sun”, “Down Rodeo”, and “Bulls On Parade” for black history month. ✊🏽🖤
Ha! I had this on repeat on the way in to work when I knew that email was waiting in my inbox. No guy, I absolute will not do what YOU tell me. I have my chain and that’s who I take direction from.
The first (and only) time i see RATM, was in Zurich Switzerland in 93, quite little venue, 800 ppl, on the bill: Tool, RATM, Fishbone. At this time nobody care about Tool. The headliner was Fishbone but the riot was for RATM, crazy night.

Why why why is this word used to denigrate MEN? It is a misogynistic slur. What the F did cunts ever do to you - other than give you life and MAYBE some pleasure. Cunts are HARMLESS. Find a word that fits.
I personally prefer shitcunt but that's harder to fit into lyrics. I mean the more I think of it, all curse words have two meanings. I take a shit which is healthy but when something is shit it's bad. Fuck. Yep same. Wank. Also same.
30 years old and “Some those that work forces are the same that burn crosses” hits harder today than ever. We need this kind of passion and anger right now.
Love this so much. Danced to it almost every night in the late 1990's in St. John's Newfoundland at a bar called Junctions, the whole building shook when this song was played.
While the tickets are too expensive IMO (also subject to "dynamic pricing"), they do donate a lot of money from sales. In 2023 they raised ~$6-7 million for various charities.
Man, I'll never forget being introduced to RATM in the early 90s. I was already listening to a lot of industrial and post-punk derivatives, but this unheard-of band fucking blew me away. The socio-political angst, the power of Zach's vocals, Tim's bass lines, and Tom's guitar creativity, holy shit.
Funny, I've been jamming to this exact song all week. That and the cute one by the Dead Kennedys about what not-see punks should do. What is that again?
It's a bit ironic to want to listen to Rage against the machine. When all the left does is rage FOR the machine. Ya know, The left used to be anti war and strive for peace. Somehow, not so much anymore.

Good time to bring this bad boy back out & crank it up. Good medicine. Thanks for the reminder, plus all the good ones in the thread. ✌️
And listened to them all.
It's music that meets the moment.
Goddamn I love that song!
Seems highly appropriate for this year.

They could have gone independent at any time in the last 1/4 of a century, but the money is too good, I guess..
Their actions are louder than the words they sing.
