Do you share this space with a significant other? If so, enjoyment of that delivery is going to change in the extremely near future. You can't escape the Circle of Life.
One was also the cost of my folks' monthly mortgage, at the time they got theirs, so. Yeah. They wore them out at the connector "pucks" but never threw them out; eldest bro came along yet years later and by then they were collector items & parts could be found: win!
Wife got one of those, in white leather, to celebrate retirement after 33 years as a Public Health prof.
I won’t go near it, for fear of being blamed if anything stains it.
I’m told it’s quite comfy.
Congrats.
Some may say "now you can leave the house" - without understanding the need to check the shipment for defects. Which can only done via extensive use testing.
Last Thursday I waited around all day waiting for the UPS knock on the door. Like a kid on Christmas morning. New Tag Heuer! I needed a toy, and I can see you did, too. Spectacular chair.
After my aneurysm, I decided I ain’t waiting and bought my Eames chair- I worked for Herman Miller and it is one of two wishes- the other is a Noguchi table- love your chair!
We got the table after we got a good rug for the floor. Allows us to see the pattern. - We also got an Eames (for the cat, as I said in another post). I like the table because it looks like a guitar pic.
I fully understand , we bought the Eames chair from Vitra and our favorite table: Tavolo con Ruote by Gae Aulenti for FontanaArte (1980)…different time I know, but iconically for us (couldn’t afford it in the 80s :-))
No they sold a bunch of mid century modern furniture- things you probably remember from elementary school like the Eames Molded plastic chair, George Nelson furniture
Sure- I just remember the chairs from school and man do I wish I had them now! I worked project management installing those office interiors in the 90s- what a time!
Anytime there is a movie or TV program and they want the audience to know that the protagonist is cool - there’s an Eames chair in the living room.
You have arrived, cool guy.
Had a blue leather recliner that Minnie broke in as I was escorting the delivery guys out the door. Finally learned blue creamy shoe polish could disguise. 🐱
The first cat claw mark is the most painful. But it gets easier after a half dozen or so when you give up on trying to keep it nice and accept that any chair of yours will include claw marks.
I like mine a little more out in the middle of the room, so I can appreciate from different angles. Also the slight easement on the edge of the plywood is perfect
There are a lot of reputable dupes for the eames/ Herman miller lounge chair. You can get one that looks basically identical for $700. Still not cheap, but better than $6k

an Eames? mine is almost worn out!
An actual fancy, shmancy Eames chair? I may die of envy!
But thank you for the intel !!!

Congrats.
Except mine is, no joke, 25 years old.

Now you’ll never leave the house
So lots of SciFi and horror from the '50 and '60s end up in plastic wraps.

Envy. That's the fucking word. Envy.
(As the inner me cries with jealousy!)
