If Biden had gone full austerity on the poor and beat their wages back down to appease tyrannical business owners his economic polling would have been ten points higher and he would have sailed to re-election.

I still think the Obama alumni who pushed austerity measures are pretty repugnant people, but I do now acknowledge that they lucked into being correct about its electoral impact. That doesn't make them any less awful, it just means a *lot* of people are awful.
This has been said before but every single person who claimed they'd be happy to pay more for cheeseborger if it meant the employee making it got paid a higher wage was a fucking liar.
Sometimes I hate that I majored in economics, but sometimes I realize that even though I was a terrible econ student, I still know more about how a business works than like 95% of people
We won the "fight for $15" without having to raise the minimum wage and business owners knew it and hated it and a bunch of people on the left hated that we didn't literally raise the minimum wage and so negatively polarized themselves against economic data they refused to believe otherwise.
I argued with people who told me the wage gains were fake and thus couldn't be used as an argument for Democrats if even a single person made under $15/hour
No tax on tips was picked up by the Trump campaign because of widespread use of credit cards is wrecking tax evasion for wait staff and dropping their real wages, making it hard for restaurants to keep em from jumping ship.
Not to mention how many service workers would vote against ending tipping because they shamelessly use their privilege as attractive people to make a ridiculous amount of money from it
Americans just hate when debt is expensive and idk if we were going to be able crush demand to meet output constrained by Chinas zero covid policy completely fucking the supply chain

Literally. Fair wages means very little crime.
(Answer: people who really, really hate spending money)
(Because the tips would need to become wages and it would make restaurant costs higher and people would complain and sigh)
