Religion, the ultimate SaaS! No better way to fight churn than requiring lifetime subscriptions that cancel all of your work when you unsubscribe. The return policy at the end is a real killer too...😜
That old saying about how advanced people plant trees for their grandchildren to enjoy is true.
But your joke is true lol. It's been 10000 years, when is this brighter day? Lol
Sad news delivered to believers: Amazing discovery called the scientific method determines that life originates from the quantum universe, fundamental biology and evolution. Before you ask, God did not create the fine structure constant either.
I love it when death is the only improvement you have to lifes ending the sufferings... means world so far is so bad death is the only way out due to nobody but luigi fixing this. More people like luigi i guess is needed, then old people wouldnt wanna die.
As a Frenchman said
There are only three great events for, man—to be born, to live, and to die;
man does not know when he is born, he suffers at his death, and he forgets to live.
Jean DE LA Bruyère – A.D. 1639—A.D. 1696
So? As a Christian, I like these gospels songs, because they provide meaning that we won't have any issues that we have in this fallen world in the heaven.
So, what are you laughing at? I think these gospel songs are good.
I gave up on those beliefs a long time ago. Now I follow the Lottery God. It pays off - he/she/it gave me $4 last week and I only spent $2. Now show me other Religions which can beat that.
Modern religion is designed to make you think anything you're going through isn't that bad because it's just "earthly suffering". If you *really* thought it was that bad, you might try to actually fix it, which would be "wrong", because you're only supposed to think about Heavenly rewards.
At every turn. It's no great revelation that Christianity teaches that worldly concerns are secondary to celestial ones. And yet, the wealth gap exists not just between billionaires and beggars, but also between pastors and lay people. The very fact that "megachurches" are a thing points to it....
There *may* be other explanations, but the obvious one is that oligarchies are not just secular creations. Religious oligarchies are quite extant. They did not disappear with the Puritans; they found their way across the ocean to America along with all the other plagues. They "justified" slavery...
...and now, they justify the rich being in total power while those over whom they hold power have nothing. Whatever happened to the kind of Christianity where a camel had an easier time passing through the eye of a needle than a rich man would entering Heaven? It died with Christ, unfortunately.
I feel like one of the largest modern stages where the ‘suffer for the imaginary reward’ mentality can be rehearsed is within the christian ‘prolife’ movement.
Yup. Nietzsche was all over this. He taught that the Abrahamic religions were death cults because they denied the one life we know we have, the life of the earth, of the here and now, in favour of some ethereal afterlife that is somehow beyond the earthly fleshly needs.
One of the big issues I have with religion comes down to this, tbh. I'm not knocking all religion and I think people take great comfort in knowing that there's something more after they've passed.
At the same time, I feel like some people use this to say "Earth is a test" and accept things as 1/2
they are? This planet, this society, can and MUST be improved. I think living justly is great, but people shouldn't write off the conditions we live in as being part of some grand scheme to judge our mettle.
I find it matches my energy and emotions really well when I'm depressed.
It feels affirming.
20 years ago, the state of mental health was way worse and there wasn't much media that said "yeah, you're right, it sucks right now, and it might not get better soon"
If this 'God' loves 'his children' so much why can't he make earth 'heaven' now. Why do we have to die, sometimes horribly, before we get there? BTW why do babies and unborn babies have to die at all 'almighty' and loving 'God'?
I live miles from a Children's hospital full of children who aren't old enough as to have sinned. So either he doesn't exist, or he isn't worthy of worship.
And, religion has nothing to do with fighting for the moral right. Just because so many of those people happened to be religious doesn't mean what they did would NOT have happened if they weren't religious. Those two things should never be conflated.
Sports and religion keep a lot of people from thinking about anything real.
I wonder if women will ever have multi million dollar contracts for sports or is that just for men? Do any women make that much money for sports? (I just don't know).
The originators of gospel did not have much to hold on to. And not much example to follow within their “ranks”. Beat ppl down long enough, it’s what they expect.
Regardless of the words, some of them are super fun to sing. If I have to put up with dreary poetry to join a roomful of singers I will do it. And really CS Lewis nailed it. Why does so much church music suck? ... CS said it better, lol.
You're reading through these comments, & you know something's wrong with all this, but you don't know why. Can I tell you, I found out what it is! God made you in His own image. I KNOW God now. You can too. Please, go to a quiet place & tell Jesus you want to know God. Don't give up till He's yours!
Optimistic, huh! Well they’re derived from the spirituals of slavery times, when those in the fields sought deliverance. Regardless of the circumstances, the music is pretty stirring.
Its the ultimate sell. Listen people step right up. I have something great for you. You can only get it through me. You have to do what I say when I say how I say. You gotta pay for it. And you will be soooo golden. Then comes the fine print. All rewards are only redeemable once deceased.
I've met people who spend their whole life miserable in anticipation of their death and I don't think there is a bigger waste than that. It's also not good for the kids to see their mom miserable every day. I have yet to see a dad take full responsibility for a Sunday or Sabbath meal. It's possible?
To me it is that pitch of the afterlife that makes such beliefs the most problematic. Some people just can't wait to get through this life to get to what comes next. And when you consider the idea of an eternity vs this limited time span it begs the question of how this life matters in comparison.
A pastor friend is always complaining about those songs, their theology is all about just doing nothing with your life on earth because only the next life matters.
This post of yours just popped up in my feed and... You might hate this, IDK, but I had to share it w/you. Try to hang with it a few minutes. (I know. Shatner. It's not easy.) The choir MAKES this, right to the end.
And then, not to their amazement, 'cause they're just dead, gone, kaput; yeah nothing...there's no afterlife "there" there. But, they killed millions along the way because they "BELIEVED!"
To achieve a world without people killing in the name of something you'd have to stop people from thinking. People like killing and most modern faiths try to tell them that It Is wrong.
I think there’s a difference between gospel songs that promise a reward (heaven) if you’ll just let us abuse and exploit you while you’re alive and the bluegrass/songs of lament where you hope there’s a heaven but looking forward to death either way
The Pie in the Sky promise of religion also works for capitalism. Someday, in the future, all you poor and oppressed will be rich and living in the clouds. So, there is no need to worry about anything.
If they really wanted to feed the poor, churches world-wide would take the tithes and share food to everyone (as everyman has needed; like in the Acts) almost everyday, and would be the highest donors
Well that's different. Frankly the concept of Love (as portrayed in the Bible; since that's what I know) is beautiful. But that's not really what people do and you don't need a Church to do it.
Ma’am! 😂😂 religion be sounding like emotional abuse. That nigga saw you struggling emotionally, took your loved ones, watched slavery happen, directly contributed to your abuse, and poverty. BUT you get to see his face after everything… and you not SWINGING?!?!
And those songs keep poor people thinking they’re gonna be in heaven while billionaires can’t get through that eye of the needle. Just a bunch of BS to keep people in their places.
That “TRASH” was ingrained into Slaves mind by d Slaveowners to keep Slaves from revolting & killing all of their Racist Asses.
“Just live here in Squalor and Hell under our Boots & Whip & when you die, you go to Heaven & have a happy life w/ your loved ones that Owners sold off or murdered”.
I suggest we have Heaven while we are here breathing. No one knows if there’s a physical Heaven after Death. I plan to have as much Heaven on this side as possible bcuz I’ve experienced Hell my entire life dealing with Racism & Hate (Police Brutality, Redlining, Inferior Education, Profiling, etc).
I think heaven is definitely real…but not in a physical sense where you go live in the sky. People gotta believe in something tho…it makes for better livin, that’s for sure.
Nah, God said He came to give us life and life abundantly. That “woe is me and suffer until I die” faith can miss me. If that’s the case, there would be no reason to get saved until we are near death.

["Take Me to the King" starts playing]
Me: *looking at my mom, distracted* Is this song telling me to end it...? 🤣
But your joke is true lol. It's been 10000 years, when is this brighter day? Lol
but I thought you said manna in heaven?

Well fuck that.
At the same time, I feel like some people use this to say "Earth is a test" and accept things as 1/2
In that glorious land above the sky
Work and pray, live on hay
You'll get pie in the sky when you die
It feels affirming.

We must accept having less while a very few have so much more.
We must accept suffering while a very few can pay to avoid it.
We must accept being at the beck-and-call of the powerful while having no time for ourselves.
Michael, row your boat ashore. Hallelujah.
my man left me, that’s all I’m thinking bout
Ok maybe that’s actually blues 🙃
Now I'll tiptoe away.

I mean ... whether you believe or not, when we kick it, THIS life's problems are totally behind us
Learn them and you will have a blessed external life.
Earth is
Borrowed 🌹😇
The Reverend Ike said:" No more Pie In The Sky!".
Unspeakable joy is joy so great you can't find words wonderful enough to describe it!
A bold strategy if you ask me.
What you’re referring to sounds more like spirituality and personal values.
“Just live here in Squalor and Hell under our Boots & Whip & when you die, you go to Heaven & have a happy life w/ your loved ones that Owners sold off or murdered”.
It's all true on earth
Gospel Music rocks. Hit a Pentecostal service sometime
You'll never go clubbing again.
It'll be better once your dead, so accept the misery for the great reward.
Time we grew the fuck up
