Personal Data Store - the bit that holds all the bits that you've created under your name.

PDSs are indexed by Relays, and the apps query the Relays and show you the results.

When you get started Bluesky handles it all for you but you can move as much as you want onto your own silicon. Or PS4s.

PDS works on computers. The PS4 is technically a computer. We found out how to goof with the PS4 to be used as a server.
(Similar thing with the 3DS/DSi)

Technically the "turnkey PDS" right now is just making an account on Bluesky and not migrating it. So another turnkey PDS solution would have to come from somewhere else.

(I think it would still be hosting, because nobody's made hosting a reliable server non-technical)

I mean you might still be able to see posts if it's not, but that would be best-effort. The PDS is where all your posts, likes, follows, etc *live*, so it does always need to be running for your content to always be available.

I have a ton of experience optimizing game engines for consoles. What frame rate would you like your PDS to run at on PS4?
I think we could make 30, maybe 60 at a push - but I think PSVR support is a bridge too far.

People are not ready for VR Bluesky, anyway. Never mind ClipClops (TM)

It'll be really interesting to see where that goes honestly. We've had about a decade of slowly narrowing sharing options and now the apple cart has been tipped. Those old options are looking, well, old.
