do you have a piece of furniture you keep only because your pet loves it? this chair is 15+ years old and matches nothing in the living room, but to her it is perfect

Yes! This was Mugsy’s chair. It became molded to her little pug body, and eventually it was so beat up by her constant presence that no one sat in it but her.
Had to take apart an office chair to get it out of the office. I left the seat on the living room floor while I took the rest out.
By the time I got back, cat adopted the chair seat and I had it in my living room until the the cat passed.
Reggie always sat with me in my recliner. When I got a new one, he wasn’t so sure he liked it. I kept the old one with the foot rest up for a while so he could have his old spot. Eventually, he moved over. He didn’t seem to care when the old chair was hauled away. What a character!
It’s called the Ruby Chair, no human enjoys sitting in it but it affords good views out the window and is critical to the “no scrabbling at the window” accords
Absolutely! My cat companion of 23 years used up her body a couple of years ago but some things I'm not letting go of. Her cat partner of 10 yrs finds great comfort in them, especially her princess bed. I love your chair.
i have a chair that my dog (who passed) made his and when i moved out i took it with me and my cat absolutely adores it & sleeps in it the same way he did. never getting rid of it.
This chair here, I love it oh so much
You could say it’s a bit like my crutch
It’s just barely broken in
Throw it away? That’s a sin
Plus this arm rest is cool to the touch
would it be impolite to save this pic on my computer? I have rescued cats (4) rescued prairie dogs (3) and a rescued rabbit, but I've never seen a more peaceful, therapeutic pic in a LONG time!!! what a total joy this doggo is!!!
This is referred to in my family as "the dog chair", it has been the pet-favoured chair for literal generations of cats and dogs. It has been re-upholstered over the years but still has the original feather stuffing in the cushion and dog tooth marks on the legs.
It takes up a lot of space and my mom would have preferred to get rid of it but could not because History and also Current Dogs so the reupholstering was the compromise
Not the same thing but I bought a chaise for my living room to read and watch movies in. My Zoey (RIP💔🐶) thought it was hers and it ultimately became a $1200 dog bed. And I’m totally okay with that.
Yes, this. 🥹 We kept a loveseat way past its prime because our beloved lab loved it. When we moved and finally decided to part with it, we brought along one of the cushions just for her.
We had the couch for our dog Bones. She loved it. When we moved she was chill with everything until we packed the couch, it was the end of the world for her. Until we brought her to the new home and they were reunited.
Got my huge ottoman out of storage, but turned out it didn’t work in the house. Put it on its side in the dining room temporarily, until I could put it out in the garage. But Betty & Ruby decided it’s their perch/scratchy post, so now I have this big green ever rattier hunk in my house indefinitely.
Yes! This is the day we unloaded the loveseat from the trailer when we moved into the new house. She used to share it with our other dog, so I understand the attachment.
We had to get a second identical couch because our Bordie Collie loves it so much and she is *very* rambunctious. She charges at it from across the room and barrels into it full tilt, then blasts off the other way. She'd have trampled us to death by now if she did it where we were sitting.
I had one. Both cats are gone now, and finally, so is the chair, which was a good bit more worn looking by the time the second cat died. When they snuggled up together it was almost always in this chair.
It's her chair. Like Al Bundy's spot on the couch, or Norm's barstool at Cheers, or whatever weird location-based idiosyncrasies Sheldon on "Big Bang Theory" has.
We had a chair in the bedroom that our dog slept in. But after my wife died the dog sleeps on my wife’s side of the bed and won’t get up until I do (over 3 yrs)
Every single time I go to play a game in my office, she plops down in my grandad's chair and falls asleep. I've wanted to get rid of it (takes up a lot of space) but I just can't bring myself to do it.
I have a too big couch in my living room but my dogs congregate on it. Recently had the legs removed so they can get on it easier (they're all senior dogs)
Finally got rid of the Papasan chair, which I bought when I was 23 for my first apartment (now on my 4th), stopped sitting in when I was 30 because people with herniated discs don’t do too well in them. Finally went six months without a single cat laying in it, and now it’s out of here.
When we adopted Elsie she’d never been on a couch (and pretty sure never been in a house). It took three tries to convince her to get on the couch but she hasn’t left in the years since then. No one is allowed to sit on it with her but our daughter. If they try she glares at them till they move.
This couch is the perfect perch for Rosie to perform her neighborhood watch duties. We bought ourselves new chairs so as not to get in her way by sitting here.
Here’s KC in his spot on the sofa at my Dad’s house.I had to kick him out so I could sleep so he slept on the floor right next to me. Or he could be found on his chair in the front room.
The dog passed away, and then I moved and got rid of his ottoman. I regret it deeply, even though it would’ve made less than zero sense to move an ottoman 5,000 miles over an ocean.
I love Peggy. I have been with you since your first book, but Peggy has been such a balm. I still remember her spot in or on the Peggy shelf. Sending warmth and kindness to all of your loved ones.
Have absolutely done this! I kept the broken back piece of an office chair for at least 5 years because my Hazel decided it was her favorite thing. Packed it for a move at least twice. I kept that office chair back until she passed in 2020.
YES!!! We had the rattiest. Bite marks, the recliner leg was broken. It was pathetic. But it was Bridgie's chair, so we could not get rid of it! She loved that thing!
My downstairs neighbors have a whole-ass sofa they can't get rid of because, to their super-shy cat, it is The Petting Couch, the one place she comes up to you to demand attention
Yes, yes we do. This is Rooster’s chair. He decided the first day we got him that was his chair for his nighttime sleeping. He has another bed and the couch for daytime napping.
We used to move our sofa out of the bay window at holiday time to put the Christmas tree there, but my dog is so upset when she can't look out the bay window that we compromised with half the sofa in the window/tree in other half. She's still ridiculously jealous of the tree.
LOL Scroll up (or down, depending on how you have replies set to display) to see the pic I posted of the chair my cats loved best. It was indeed originally purchased in the early 1980s!
Thank you – yours are too! I always wanted an orange cat or even an orange and white one, but of the many cats I've had over the years, I've never had an orange one. They nearly all came via the cat distribution system, so I almost never got to pick one out!
yes, my husband insists we keep the Worlds Most Uncomfortable Futon, a dire, hideous cheap college dorm level futon leftover from my singlehood, as our cats love to sleep on it. It also matches nothing and is a torture device to sit or sleep on
Please observe this eleven-year-old IKEA chair which my husband bought well before we even started dating. Please note its discoloration I absolutely cannot clean out and observe how the cat has clawed the shit out of it. Functionally it is now a $259 alternative to her destroying anything else.
Oh, I’ve written off the entire corner of the room. I once moved it a foot forward because she was being a Bad Cat and jumping on the mantle. She cried so long and loud that we compromised, and now she sits on the mantle.
Hello from the home of this IKEA chair’s matching ottoman cum scratching post / portable window perch / WFH supervisor station (which everyone loved more than the chair, so it had to stay)!
YES!! We also have the ottoman, but her relationship to it is that my husband drapes a throw blanket over it to make a Cat Cave, and she wiggles underneath to take a secret nap. Somehow she doesn’t claw it! We don’t know why!
this is the fanciest chair in the apartment, and if anyone ever tries to sit in it he will stand next to them and gently tap their leg like “🥺 excuse me” until they get up. if they do not get up, he perches nearby waiting for any sign of weakness
Its not furniture but my beat up backpack is Cookie's favorite thing to sleep on, and after i get another one i want to put memory foam and stuffing in it and stitch it up. Hopefully he will like it.
Oh my gosh, she is so precious! Here is our similar-looking boy that after I posted this, many folks suggested we get him a dog bed, but maybe we should get him a chair!

A round chair that my cat absolutely loves. It’s 10 or 12 years old, & no one sits/sleeps in it except him.
It's now the pitty's beanbag. 😀
Tubu, our curly-coat curled up in the ugliest, nastiest chair in the house. And I can't get rid of it. Cause... ^^^ Look at the cuteness.
Beautiful puppers loves you keep her chair! 💗
That's all that matters.
Wife: we have 2 kids and it matches the dog hair perfectly, no.
Couch and dog going on 11 years, 4 homes, 3 states.
Truer words never spoken.
A cat of ours used to play, mostly in the middle of the night. His walking-songs were surprisingly melodious, with flair.
We have an old twin mattress in the family room just for the dogs.
